Tsatsu must be forced to complete his jail term - Adoryeh

A member of the New Patriotic Party’s communication team, Hopeson Adorye has voiced his opinion on the controversial manner Counsel for the third respondent, Tsatsu Tsikata, set out in ‘shutting’ Lawyer Addison up in court on Monday.

News went viral in the aftermath of yesterday’s Supreme Court sitting when Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata was reported to have lost his cool and told lawyer Philip Addison to “shut up” for attempting to object to a question he had posed to main witness of the petitioners.

Listeners of radio and viewers of television were fortunate a catch a glimpse of what happened between the two lawyers when Mr. Tsikata angrily told his colleague to “shut up” for him to proceed with his submission.

Although the presiding judge, Justice Atuguba, directed both lawyers to stick to the rules of the game, and formally submit complains to the bench, Mr. Adorye observed that it was as if Mr. Tsikata was carving a slot for himself to be worshipped as a “god” when he is addressing the court.

In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Mr. Adorye established that it was totally wrong for Mr. Tsikata to exhibit such an “uncalled-for” attitude in court when he has been acclaimed as a law lecturer.

He forthrightly warned Mr. Tsikata to control his temper and bear in mind he now walks as a freeman because ex-president Kufour had mercy on him.

He noted that, for a fact that Mr. Tsikata was granted a presidential pardon by the former president, he should learn to act “responsible” when he is given the floor to address the court.

He opined that if it would be difficult for Mr. Tsikata to learn how to be responsible in court, he must be forced to complete his "unexpired jail term at Nsawam."

“Right from scratch, he (Tsikata) advised both parties to set an ethical standard in court, but if you take a look at what happened in court, you can describe it as highly irresponsible on the part of Mr. Tsikata”.

“I really don’t know if the laws of the land permits an ex-convict to put up the behavior of Mr. Tsikata showed yesterday,”he quizzed.
