Counsel of the opposing side has the right to raise an objection. It is only the judges who can over rule that. Tsatsu is an astute and experienced lawyer, he knows his behaviour in court was wayward, he should have retracted that comment and apologize to Addison.

The judges erred by ignoring Addison's demand for retraction and apology. The Judges should have openly reprimanded Tsatsu for that comment, ask him to retract it, and apologize. Decency in court has nothing to do with who's senior at the bar.

Even though Kufuor is saying that people tell the truth, e lying bad. The write up here gives the impression the Doctors did not go on strike. This is not true. The Doctors went on strike for almost 3 weeks before they were settled for them to return to work. As far as paying the Legon lectures $6000 instead of $1000 i.e. 600% increase, I don't believe it but if this is true, it is only a FOOL who would make such a gargantuan increase of salary and is part of this problem. He should spare us the trouble.

Professors salaries were increased from 1000 dollars to 6000 dollars a month.That is an increase of 500 per cent.What a whopping increase and on what basis was such a gargantuan increase done?Is it any wonder that other workers are are asking for unreasonable pay increases and the national kitty was empty when Kuffuor left office?With the single spine salaries,pay for the poor elderly and free food for school children the economy is now on its knees.How can the nation sustain an economy which uses not less than 40% of its income to pay salaries of workers whose production capacity is less than 20% of the nations income .Governments always have to borrow to balance the cedi component of its budget.This is unsustainable.The government must either put a moratorium on the payment of allowances and pay increases or pay what the state of the economy can sustain.Do we want the nation to be like Greece,Spain and Cyprus which have gone bankrupt?The nation's oil money will be a drop in the ocean if prudent decisions about the economy are not taken.The government needs to be truthful,strong and pragmatic with its decisions and policies on the economy. There is no room for playing to the gallery.

The truth must always be told to the people of Ghana by any government because govrnments are trustees. But it is very important to use the resources in a very effective and efficient manner, bearing in mind the choices and timing of certain expenditures expended by government.The payment of ex-gratia allowance irritated the people of Ghana particularly the timing. Workers are rational beings and do love this country because there is no other country we can call ours.
For me, it is very critical for government to adopt the economics approach of using the ''scale of preference'' in the management of the little resources available to the country.

It's not a matter of the government not telling the truth to the striking workforces. The fact of the matter is, the strikes have been instigated by former President Kufuor's own party, the NPP. They are part of a scheme hatched by his (Kufuor's) party to make Ghana ungovernable under Mahamah. Ghanaian doctors and the conservative sections of the country's workforce have fallen prey to the scheme. But their actions can be described as self-destructive, sadly, because if Ghana is destabilized, it does not affect Mahama alone, it affects all including the strikers themselves. We are hearing potential investors are redirecting their attention to the Ivory Coast which has similar economic prospects as Ghana's. Ghana is missing out important investments from overseas while it tears itself apart because of John Mahamah, the president.

I don't think anyone will begrudge good living wages being paid to workers. The problem is whether or not the wages, from the professors all the way down to the lowest paid civil servant, are sustainable.

This is the root cause of the problem that the current government is dealing with. Huge, planned, wage increases of 16% plus, initiated by Kuffour's administration just before he left the scene, locked governmnet into commitments they cannot fulfil.

The net effect is now becoming obvious, and of course, Kuffour who was reckless in starting this debacle in the first place, has some advice to dispense. Absolutely unbelievable!

Why salaries are not tied to the economy and how much government is taking in is beyond me.

Most likely, in the interim, the government is going to resort to printing money to pay out. We have been through this before.
