Good question there, Mr Eyia. My days in Primary school we were taught how to spell and use words in sentences. Over to you, teachers

The issue is that most of the teachers themselves cannot read, do not read, cannot pronounce correctly and cannot spell. It is therefore not surprising when one sees and hears the poor standards of English, in the media.

Well, you're talking a lot of sense, but not in the Ghanaian way! Reading is good to everyone, I hear it even improves the brain. But you start rather doubtfully and eventually begin to believe in yourself and what you're doing. On the other hand some people think they could get it by blood transfusion without surgery. Many Ghanaians think like that so we appreciate it but just wish it away

Jack, what do you mean? Is Mr Eyiah talking a lot of sense, but not in the Ghanaian way? Reading is reading everywhere and teaching of reading skills is good for all languages and not for ONLY English

Indians, Chinese and Japanese who have national languages speak better english with eloquence than most Ghanaian professors.
Our pronunciations are the worst, due to this, when the Ghanaian is speaking with a loud voice as do in Ghanaian movies, all you hear is noise, simply because the high pitched voce is gliding over words instead of pronouncing them right.
Nigerians do way more better, and have more command over words than Ghanaians.
I cry for my country as standards for everything including the arts have fallen so low.

what do you gain by reading lies concocted by other people. I'd rather read ananse stories than foreign stories.
