Nice argument. Great topic to argue about, nice introduction and some good proofs by logic to support your claims. However, i believe our poor attitude towards education and reading should be much attributed to our selfish and unpatriotic political leaders. Should our leaders channel the nations resources into our educational system so as to improve its quality as well as provide more educational facilities such as community libraries and many more, individuals will yearn to obtain knowledge. Go to some public libraries and you will be amused to find only a pile of old Graphic papers and books. It is no wonder we still employ old methods and knowledge in solving 21st-century problems, thereby resulting in our stagnation. I can't imagine how happy my soul will rejoice should we ever have political leaders who are more enthused to improve our educational institutions and facilities rather than debate over ex-gratias.

we are all witnesses to the lies and maliciously abominable agendas of the ewe mafia ruling by proxy today. in as much as the claim to be wanting to do the right think they are incompetent and amateur in everything they undertake to do . half his appointees lack any proper experience and this is their first real job, their actions instead of bringing unity have caused divisions to deepen and even new ones appear . after 20 years of work the npp allowed a fool like kuffuor to rule for 8 years and are now paying very dearly the price of his attempt to impose ahanti domination over the rest of the Akans thus enabling the return of the ndc woe on Ghana. pepeni has copied his partner in crime's style and appointed mainly minority muslim alajihs and ewe mischief s . after this mandate never again will a corrupt , wicked , evil northerner , ewe or ashanti be given the opportunity to lead us no matter what party platform they stand on . the attitude of me and my tribesmen against the Akans and other Ghanaian s will never pass again as its been exposed and we are all now much wiser . yes they will not have an easy ride chopping our money and we will make sure they answer for all their crimes sooner or later

HUMILITY?
The question asked is that what is humility? what constitute humility? Many atimes the very people who try to use the phrase humility against their opponents might be persons of no humility.. Humility and meekness are not the trait of many pastors I know and listen to in USA.They do not demonstrate humility or meekness in their approach of the gospel. USA by nature is not a nation of meekness or humility.
Humility by definition is the question of being humble or a modest sense of one's importance.Meekness is synonymous to humility, except meek is your new nature in Christ Jesus and humility is acting meek in your persuasions. The word humiliate originated from the word humility. Humiliate means put down by other people. Only the creator has the right to humiliate any human, the rest in creation have to go through the proper order to humiliate. Normally, humiliation occurs out of jealousy, wickedness, insecurities and as corrections which is for goodness.
Collosian 2:16; So let no one judge you in food, drink, regarding a festival, a new moon of sabbaths(JEW!!!!JEW), which are a shadows of things to come, but after substance which is of CHRIST JESUS(FAITH=absolute trust in the Lord not variable substance hope for, which is secular definition). Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility( MIDI MEKWASEA PE NYENKYE"doggy, wagging tail for a piece of a bone, in a sense refrain from involuntory humility, said PAUL in the book of corinthians), the book of 1st corinthians says let your yes be yes and no be no, and worship of angels intruding into things which we have not seen, vainly puffed up by their fleshly mind( which means there is a spiritual mind also), not holding fast to the HEAD(CHRIST JESUS,instead holding to the church which suppose to be the body with pastor or priest heads outside of Christ Jesus, hence their faith-based nonsense coming from politicians of mere men) from whom all the body nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments grows with the increase that is from the Lord God.
Acts 20:19; Serving the Lord with all humility(christlike because christ was meek, not chrysler the vehicle which is blasphemous using vanity to represent word of God), with many tears(pains, sufferings and harassments from authorities) and trials(prosecutions and defense using the word of Christ God) which happened to me(Paul, in the bible it is difficult to establish his tone of voices) by the plottings of the jews( always going against those who refuse their B.C. glories). Serving the Lord Jesus Christ is a sign of meekness, which means yielding to the salvation gospel of christ;(love, faith, hope, grace, baptism, redemption, justification, worshipping, revelation, unity of followers and glorification to the kingdom of God) gospel from Christ Jesus is humbleness of heart. Glorify Christ Jesus is to meek oneself to God almighty. Therefore humility is not a mandate from politicians who are full of slanderings and coverups. How can anybody separate the attributes of salvation from the word itself as if they are mutually exclusive; as if Jesus Christ can be separated from his cross of crucifixion and the blood shed on calvary for SALVATION. I do not understand that. It tells me that a politician with faith base objective without salvation is behaving like lucifer with the word of God to deceive human Jesus Christ. or love which is outside salvation.
2Timothy 2:24; A servant of the Lord Jesus must not quarrel, but be gentle to all not just jews, able to teach(explain scriptures truefully,Woe onto the one who teaches falsehood to deceive), patient in humility, not involuntory humility correcting those who are in opposition. If God perhaps will grant those in opposition repentance. Even in repentance it has to come from the grace of the Lord God under salvation, else the heart of the wicked will not heed.
1Peter5:1 going; The elders who are among you I exhort, as a fellow elder and a witness of the suffering of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed ( revelation is the summary of the total gospel from genesis to the end time, rev 13 is empires from Egypt and the last USA). Shepherding the flock of the lord God, serving as an oversears(lead sheep, I used to be an oversear sometime to fill in for absent teachers in primary school, even though I was myself a pupil.) not by compulsion(false humility, like western nations using sanctions to force N.Korea or Cuba into democracy, even though the majority of their population like what they have. If majority hate their government, the government will collapse from inside), but willingly, not for dishonest gain(financial riches) but eagerly, nor as being Lords(bruising heads for sins) over those entrusted to you.Instead be an example to the flock. When the Christ Shepherd appears, you'll receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. IF you can read Titus 3 going., talking about submission and before submiting, one should know who to submit to( a born again christian cannot submit to anybody, that is dangerous in the sense that the born again might be submitting to an anti-christ or a head bruiser who is an impastor of Christ Jesus).
Therefore a leader who refuse to heed to corrections by subjects or listen to his people are not humble, meek or worth leading the flock, unless the situations demands to be stubborn. The Lord Jesus Christ was being corrected in the form of questions even though he was perfect.Aaron and some active men among the Jews were correcting Moses who was the direct servent of God in the days of exodus. Paul has to come out as the belated apostle to correct the leader apostle Peter in several occasions. A good pastor is correctible by the church members, because he is not the only one who can read the bible, interprete the bible or explain it. Attach 2 Peter 2 to see clearly of what they were trying to bring up into new world order shit, seeming like God ordained but satan at his clever groove using the name of God for his oil seeking control of the earth. The opposite of anti-christ is pro-christ, not Jesus Christ, as the opposte of salvation is worldly or fleshly minds which makes love, faith and hope vague under politics cum religion.

1. The US made accelerated progress in development because their governments saw the need to invest substantially in education and research. Our leaders at home being myopic and more self centered fail to recognize that when everyone does well the entire nation prospers. They use the nation's scarce resources and opportunities to educate their own children in very expensive foreign schools and care less about what happens at home.Example : JJ
2. While some countries know exactly what they want out of education in the next 10-20 years or so they choose carefully the curriculum and get the right type of teachers. We dont.
3. They look into the future and educate to produce employable graduates, ready to fill new job openings. We dont.
4. Teaching methods are reviewed frequently and the best methods are always adopted. We dont.
5. Some ghanaian professors got their degrees many years ago the hard way and want to make it just as hard as it was in their time for their students.
6. Some ghanaian professors and educators dont avail themselves of the opportunities of continuous education and become stale and deadwoods few years after graduation. In the US continuous education and certification is a must if you want to remain in active practice, whether as a teacher, MD, nurse, surgeon, engineer, etc.
7. Parents in some developed countries take an active interest and are personally involved in their children's education from the word go. They help their kids with their homework. Most parents in Ghana are disconnected and disinterested in their kids education and leave them entirely on their own.
8. As a nation we dont invest in libraries and books and so we lack the reading culture.
9. We cannot apply what we learn at school making learning a mere perfunctory exercise, good for the test only. Many of our students merely pass through the institution without the school or institution passing through them.
10. We have consistently failed to recognize, reward and honor hard work, industry and ingenuity and have instead rewarded laziness to our detriment.
11. Our children's education start too late in life. In some advanced countries some parents start reading, singing or playing a musical instrument like the piano to the baby while it's still in the mother's womb and this will contunue throughout the early years of the child's life. Some parents read to their toddler kids each night, the last thing before
bed time. It's said that about 70 per cent of all the knowledge acquired in a person's lifetime takes place between 0 to 17 years of age. The new brain of a new born child is sharper than the tired old brain of their parents and needs to be put to early use.A quick start has been proven to be advatageous to the baby child. We must also encourage the study of music, art, drama and include sports and fitness programs in the curriculum from the early beginning. Our people lack creativity. Sports disciplines are of immense benefit. A sound body is a sound mind and sports have become a multi billion industry which we dont need to take for granted. If we want good results we need to start very early in the life of the child.

Have you considered what part being colonized has played in all this? How many times have we not compared ourselves to the white man? I voice it out everyday especially when in Ghana but is it strictly right to do so if we fail to take into account contributary factors that could be responsible for our stagnation.
Mr author, did you stop to consider what impact colonization could have played in all this? How about having english imposed on you as one's mother tongue? How about our mother tongue being stifled to the point of extinction?

Clearly, all commentators are in agreement with the writer that Ghanaians, for that matter, Africans, don't like to read or just don't read. In fact, they don't even write books! An exception is found in Nigeria, a fact which was captured in one of the English readers we used in secondary school, is the booming book/printing industry in Nigeria. Over there, there is a local writing and printing culture, the like of which Ghanaians cannot even imagine, said to have started after WWII, when ex-servicemen invested their severance pays into small printing presses. Filling/petrol stations often have attached to them small "supermarkets" and bookshops, stocking large cross-sections of books.
Then, in Yorubaland, there is a vibrant Yoruba newspaper culture, credited to Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Old people we thought were illiterates read those papers as if they were reciting poetry!
In Ghana, it is even still difficult to get the "national" newspapers - Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times and their sister papers - to buy in even Accra, I've been told recently. One often is forced to buy some of those scrappy, yellow pages to buy say Graphic, if lucky the news vendors have some in stock by 11am! So, in the districts, even in large towns, only a handful get the chance to see and even read those papers daily! And you are talking of books?!
Do pupils and students even have the prescribed text books to take home, as we were lucky to have done?
Yes, we are indeed producing "illiterates" of the C21st! That's what you get when you have backward people ruling you for so long. No wonder, even Congo DRC under Mobutu had surpassed Ghana in the literacy ratings in Africa, since the overthrow of Nkrumah! Ghana is now a nation of illiterates and semi-illiterates! Check the stats!
