they are more than just incompetent but the English have a word for it and that is AMATEURISM plain and simple . give your car to an amateur driver and you will end up in the nearest gutter or wall. their propaganda machinery only motto is blame it on the innocent so they lie and say its the npp , Akans , fanti supporters of mills in the ndc , worker's unions , judges , market women , akada riders , galamsay , guinea fowls that have flown away , etc. the truth is that their vicious govt has infiltrated every sector and institution by removing competent people from office and replacing them with their loyal ndc , ewes , northerners and perverted crooks , the end result being not not electricity and water problems but every week a shortage of some goods or services . in the meantime they show high security presence with the police and others on the streets ready to oppress, boss and bully law abiding citizens but no one told him did assad not put police and army every 100 yards , the same with gadafi , yugoslavia , egypt etc. when the people are fed up no power on earth can stop them from removing you . for me this is the ideal opportunity to rid ourselves of this ewe , northerner and ga menace so we split the country in at least 2 and we each go our own ways for ever, long live the republic of Akan

What sort of confusion is this directive? I have never heard of this? Even in the UK, we are allowed to use state cars for both official work and as private. For example, working for a public (state) organisation, you can use a lease car for both work and at home. The difference is that the user of the car makes a monthly contribution towards the cost of the car and bears the cost of running the car (fuel, engine oil and other lubricants but not servicing, insurance and tyres). The user is paid mileage allowance whenever the car is used the car for work, such as attending meetings, conferences, etc outside your normal place of work. The rate per mile is dependent on the car user's status (whether one is an essential care user or not. Essential care user gets a higher rate). After work the care used as private (go shopping, pick children from school, visit friends, go socializing, etc). The alternative is to use one's own car and be paid an annual car allowance if one is considered an essential car user. That is what both public and private organisations do here in the UK. It's more cost effective. I do not know about happens to ministers.
I think Ghana should adopt this system which will save Ghana millions.

Party affiliations have blinded some Ghanaians to the point that they just refuse to appreciate a good policy even if from the other party. The country would never develop this way. During the last US elections a heavy weight Republican at great cost to the the Republican candidate George Bush, praised President Obama, his opponent, for his good handling of the flood disaster in his state, New Jersey. This would never happen in Ghana. When Pianim attested to Prof Mill's intergrity, the NPP have not forgiven him. Even when Kuffour decided to honour Prof Mills, the NPP accused him of planning the electoral defeat of the party. Why should the country be so polarised that neither side can appreciate the good deeds of the other? Until we learn to give credit where credit is due, our own efforts at donig good would not be appreciated by others.

1. If they are to park their cars at work then that presupposes that they have to drive their private cars to work. Do they get petrol allowances for their private cars in that case?
2. Let me ask a hypothetical question. For eg. the Minister for Communication travels to Yendi on a 3 day working visit. He lives in Achimota so in essence are we saying that on his way back he should drive to the ministries to go and park the govt. vehicle and then drive his Daewoo back to Achimota?
3. Has the president thought about the security implication of all Ministers driving cars with identifiable plates? What happens under covert operations?
4. Has the president considered the implication of the public being monitors of ministerial whereabouts? Does he know what could happen if people take things into their hands and openly confront ministers?
I have no qualms with the directive but it shouldn't be a blanket policy which has the propensity to backfire. Thanks.

I love this directive. We need more cost cutting actions in the public sector. The petrol voucher system must be abolished completely. It is all waste of resources. How can't a senior official of government cannot buy gas into his car to work but has to be subsidized by government? it does not make sense. We should encourage Ghanaians to buy vehicles from our local dealers at affordable prices. In this case, we will be using new or certified used vehicles instead of over aged or accidents cars imported into the country with all the negative impacts on the environment and the people. It will also help create more jobs in the private sector for our technicians and entry level job seekers. People should be made to take responsibility of their own actions and interests. Why should the government pay for your transportation to attend funerals or family functions during weekends? Does it make sense? what we need to do is to try as mush of possible to expand the capacity of our oil refinery to produce more petroleum products at reasonable prices for the people. It gas is affordable, it will help ease the pressure on the citizen and travel cost will reduce significantly for the general public, which will positively impact on prices of goods and services in general.

DOES IT MEAN THEIR DRIVER WILL TAKE THEM HOME, GO BACK AND PARK AT THE MINISTRIES AND IN THE MORNING, THE DRIVER WILL GO AND COLLECT THE CAR,FROM THE MINNISTRIES, GO AND PICK UP THE MINISTER AND TAKE HIM/HER TO THE MINISTRIES?
IF THAT IS THE CASE, THEN IT MEANS THE NORMAL JOURNEYS WILL BE DOUBLED, USING TWICE AS MUCH FUEL.
AS ONE CONTRIBUTER SAID, BETTER TO DOWN SIZE THE CARS; GIVE THEM SMALLER CARS WITH LESS FUEL CONSUMPTION.
YOU CAN ALSO REDUCE THE FUEL ALLOWANCE FOR THEM, SO THAT IF THEY WISH TO USE THEIR CARS FOR OTHER PURPOSES, THEY HAVE TO BUY THEIR OWN FUEL.
ALSO, SERIOUS MINITERS DON'T START AND FINISH WORK FROM 9.00A.M. TO 5.00P.M. SOMETIMES THEY MAY NEED TO MEET SOME OF THEIR COLLEAGUES FOR MEETINGS AND DISCUSSIONS AFTER NORMAL WORK PERIOD OR BE SUMMONED TO AN IMPROMPTU MEETING, ETC.
WHAT ABOUT IF THE DRIVER IS LATE IN PICKING UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE MINISTRIES IN THE MORNNING OR IS STUCK IN THE TRAFFIC WHEN PICKING UP HIS/HER BOSS?
THESE ARE STUPID GIMMICKS THAT WILL NOT IMPRESS THE RIGHT THINKING GHANAIAN.
WHO ARE ADVISING THE PRESIDENT, MAY I ASK????
THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE, WHATSOEVER.

How do we monitor the fuel and the maintenance of the private cars they will be buying ?
Ghanaians need to know how they will deal with any infraction when it comes to the use of these private cars.
The appointees must have a ceiling as to the quantity of fuel they can use for a month beyond which they have to pay.also they must have a ceiling when it comes to how much government can absorb in terms of maintenance.
The ordinary Ghanaian is dying fast due to the fact the government is spending all the resources on the dishonest politicians, many of whom see the need to go to GIMPA to have first degree because government will pay for them but dont think the Ghanaian child deserves free education.

There are too many wrongs in our society and until we begin to correct them we shall get no where. We dont want any musical chair in the country. We dont want change in our attitude but we want different results. Until we begin to make changes, we shall continue to have the same results. This was one of the strong messages of Dr. Ndoum during the elections. We all know these things are wrong but nobody can boldly correct them. For me the president should be supported to effect these changes for the betterment for the country otherwise we should not expect any good and new result.
Public officials have been seen during private periods to be using state properties but nobody can say them. The president is elected to ensure that the right things are done by the citizenry including these public servants.

I don't like anything about this self imposed government but these ministers are adults and whatever they choose to do after work is a matter for them to decide.Communist controls and dictate to people's life.Ghana's been liberated from that long after Nkrumah was driven out.
