I have seriously tried not to comment on this frigile issue about the Doctor's strike. But the comment from Kenneth Dickson, has provoked me to write something. If Kenneth is raising the issue of the Hypocratic Oath of the doctors, and holding them responsible for the death of a single patient, then what is he to tell the President about his oath to be fair to all Ghanaians? Would the doctors have embarked on this strike if their arears had been paid or if the government had made a tangible effort to do that? Kenneth, l want you to use your head and not your emotions. Be reasonable here. Instead of finding the root cause of the problem, you are trying to shift blame on the innocent doctors. If the government does not have money to pay its debts, where did it had the money to sponsor the "GREEDY PASTORS" to Israel? It is irresponsible for the government to issue threat to the doctors while owing them at the same time. Asem beba dai!

Now the President wants to bribe God by paying the so called but greedy Pastors on a trip to Israel, I am very sure even God himself will disprove. Now when it comes to those who are literally saving lives physically, you do not have the money. Where lies Mahama's priority. All we get is a bunch of frustrated ignorant politicians making statements that can never be undertaken. COMMON SENSE DICTATES THAT ANY COUNTRY WHOSE BUSINESS CITIZENS AND RESIDENTS KNOW THE LOCAL CURRENCY IS UNSTABLE AND USELESS WITH LIMITED PURCHASING POWER, WOULD PREFER TO USE A STABLE AND CONVERTIBLE CURRENCY FOR THEIR BUSINESS NEEDS, WHICH IN THE CASE OF GHANA, IS THE WORLD'S RESERVE CURRENCY THE US DOLLAR, AMONG OTHERS.
THE US DOLLAR, LIKE MANY OTHER CONVERTIBLE CURRENCIES, AND EVEN THE INDIAN RUPEE, ARE USED AS MEDIUMS OF EXCHANGE IN MANY COUNTRIES.
IF GHANA'S USELESS LEADERS WANT THE SAME TO APPLY TO THE CEDI, THEY SHOULD KNOW WHAT MACRO-ECONOMIC POLICIES TO IMPLEMENT TO RESTORE CONFIDENCE IN THE CEDI, PERIOD.
GOING CAP-IN-HAND BEGGING EVERY TOM,DICK AND HARRY FOR LOANS OF EVERY DESCRIPTION IS CERTAINLY NOT PART OF THE COMMON SENSE ECONOMIC POLICIES TO RESTORE CONFIDENCE IN THE CEDI REGARDLESS OF THE NUMBER OF RE-DENOMINATION EXERCISES.
GHANA'S IS PAYING BACK BIG TIME FOR YEARS OF THE PRACTICE OF NEPOTISM, TRIBALISM AND CORRUPTION IN UNIVERSITY ADMISSIONS, DOCTORING OF GRADES, PLAGIARISM AND APPOINTMENTS OF QUARE-PEGS-IN-ROUND-HOLES LIKE AKUFFO-ADDO, "DR" SPIO GARBRAH AND MANY OTHERS IN VERY SENSITIVE POSITIONS WHILE THE NATION'S JUDGMENT DEBTS, FRAUDULENT ESBs, ENDEMIC GRAFT AND OTHERS CONTINUE TO CRIPPLE THE NATION'S ECONOMY AND THE CEDI.
RESTORE CONFIDENCE IN THE CEDI FIRST, AND ALL OTHERS SHALL FALL IN PLACE.

The Government should show leadership on the prevailing strikes in the country and by leadership I don’t mean threats and ultimatums. It seems Government is confusing power with leadership. Leaders set vision and this is possibly what is lacking in the current presidency. Against this background the government should set its vision for addressing the needs of public servants including doctors, nurses, teachers and the starting point in setting this vision is creating trust which underpins paying any entitlement due to the concerned individuals and entities who have rendered their services. The Government should also take measures to avoid inflaming the situation by consciously or unconsciously allowing statements from individuals to score political points on important issues. The Single Spine Salary Policy if need be needs to be reassessed in line with national coffers or if is to be implemented in full then needs to be so….this calls for leadership. We are yet to see leadership and laying down the grand vision and not promises. The Doctors have a point as it is pathetic for any Government in the world to bluntly tell a citizen who has delivered an essential service it does not have the resources to pay for services rendered not a month ago but possibly way months back. In legal terms it accrues interest and becomes a huge debt….Ghana as a nation is not prioritizing which is a symptom of lack of leadership

This is very insensitive on the part of the doctors. Why are they holding the lives of the people they have vowed to take care of to ransom? If the tenets of their employment does not subscribe to strike action, why are they doing it? I understand they work hard and should be paid accordingly but this is getting out of hand. In other places, doctors have to work very hard (including pleasing their employers as well as patients)to keep their licences which by the way have to be renewed every so often. They should ask their friends who are working elsewhere if they can do this 'nonsense' and still keep their jobs. Few Ghanaian doctors upgrade themselves regularly and yet... Left to me alone, Ghanaian doctors will be made to compete for jobs and negotiate their own remunerations, but again, it's the poor Ghanaian who will suffer.

In Ghana, doctors have always seen themselves as a class above everyone else. I think this is however very naive of them. The only job in this well that you never really get to be big is being a doctor! You remain doing the same job throughout your life, serving all of humanity - from poor to rich. If the Physician will be called to hospital at 0230am to attend the poor madman with no home but who is in hospital just as he will attend to the rich man! The doctor is not a big man. God has therefore given honour to the profession to make it attractive. Arrogant doctors have missed the point of their profession. Humulity is all they should exhibi. For them to allow the loss of one life is a sure show of arrogant disrespect of their calling. Doctors, come again! Unless you are doing the bidding of Nana!

I am not happy about the way the GMA has been turned into a political party by her leaders.
It is true that the Government is owing the striking doctors, but the way the leadership of the GMA are disposing themselves, smells of a hidden agenda to frustrate this government and create problems for the ordinary Ghanaian.
Politicians are at liberty to travel abroad for some medications but what of the ordinary Ghanaian?

Sack them and withdraw their passports until each one of them refunds fully the cost of training. Use the refund to import Cuban Doctors to replace them. There are many Foreign Doctors, Physician Assistants etc that are ready to help out there for months, Ghana can arrange to have them come and help. After these Ghanaian Doctors have paid for their education let them out to seek the greener pastures they think of.
Doctors, you are invited to the USA to become CNAs for a while. You are invited to become illegals, to seek to become janitors for a while.

Ghanaianas should GO ON THE STREETS TO DEMAND ACOUNTABILITY,probe all MP'S GOVT officials and the PRESIDENT. If the GOVT refuse to PROBE it's MP'S and officials GHANAIANS should not VOTE in the next ELECTIONS the whole country SHOULD GO ON A STRIKE to teach GOVT a LESSON. Wake up GHANA is about time.

These people do not know what they are doing, in the first place. For that very reason, they do not realise their actions and inactions combine to SINK the country faster than anybody could imagine. They are like a mighty ship moving on the EXPANSIVE

That's why they always claim to be doing the right thing.
Remember, they move in LOCK STEP with the HOLY MEN & WOMEN of Ghana.
