Look, two billion is mentioned here but about another two or more billions goes througth the back door to the rullers of our nation. Ask why every body want to become a president or minister. Mine workers real salary is never paid to them rather to Ghana mine workers union leaders and the goverment officials. Bribery and corruption the reason why all institutions are on strike. Oh Ghana, the military must come back into action in J.J like ones more.

Where does the money go? The answer is simple! If for example 80% of the companies are owned by foreigners, then a very rough simple mathematics is...Ghana actually earns only the taxation on 80% of 2 billion dollars, plus some royalties, plus the remaining 20% Ghana owns. Its just a rough estimation but not far fetched! only way we can maximise what we get from this 2 billion is increase govt ownership in the gold mining sector.

Well, i did not say it was easy to increase ownership...I meant the breakdown of where the 2 billion goes is easy. Its not only for govt to increase ownership so we reap the most benefits...the stocks of these foreign companies are publicly trade on the stock exchange so any Ghanaian who is seriously concerned and has the money can buy stocks of these companies. So by Govt, I mean all Ghanaians! I wouldnt say its all lost...we as a nation have to just acquire the culture of investing in our countries assets instead of 'fufu based' investments lol (joke)

We have been exploited for over 200 years.
The colonialists came to steal and plunder our wealth, and they are still doing so through the mining companies.
These companies are making massive profits from our gold, and paying little by way of tax and royalties.
We must start exploiting our mineral resources now, else we will continue to remain an impoverished nation.

Irrespective of the total amount of money contributed to the Ghanaian economy annually, why does Jon Mahama and Asiedu Nkatia do with the money. Why do they keep borrowing from other nations? During Kuffour's administration, we did not have oil at all, but cast your mind back and see the number of developmental project NPP did. Now compare it to the total amount of money borrowed from other nations to that of NDC. I can't believe why NDC compare themselves to NPP. And I wonder why some fools still support the thievery party NDC. Shame on you all fools suporting the stupid party.

Oscar Wilde said in one of his quotes "My experience is that as soon as people are old enough to know better, they don't know anything at all".
Since independence we had people in government who have served the nation up to this day but it looks as if Ghana is starting life all over again almost every single day.
We are never seeking to work at anything to our advantage due to the selfish desire of some imposed politicians who cannot even apply the skill they learnt to raise domestic animals not to talk of managing the affairs of a nation.
Whatever we do turns out to help others and do us great deal of self-harm. Like Ambrose Bierce said "calamities are of two kinds: misfortune to ourselves and and a fortune to others".
If this is the revenue that the mining sector contributes to our economy then what share goes to those who are the main capos of the mining industry. May be it's time for us to convince these gold craze guys that the gold has shifted into the part of the ocean belonging to Ghana and that the only way to get it out is to convert it into portable drinking water and for generating electricity.

When you hear about huge sums of money being mentioned regarding the mining industries you begin to ask yourself, does it reflect in the lives of those who live in those mining areas.
A typical example is Obuoasi where almost the whole town is hanging on some sort of reinforcement. The earth beneath the Township is gradually being eaten away with impunity without considering the plight of the citizens of that great town.
I pray that the Almighty God continue to sustain the foundation of that town because it wouldn't be a surprise if we woke up one day and the whole town has moved in to the belly of the earth due to the activities of those greedy monkeys.
