He Jumah knows very well that there certain members of parliament, as rightly observed by Mr. Pratt Jnr, who cannot compare themselves to some teachers and doctors but are earning more- which is very unfair, and so the teachers are justified in their complaint. He must render a sincere apology to them, otherwise next time when he falls sick he should go to parliament for treatment!

The office of the Members of the parliament has a salary requirement. If it's $5000.00, it is for all. No matter where you come from. The MP in my village takes the same salary as the MP from Menhyia Palace. The Sayito degree MP from my village would have to receive the same salary as the Professor Nii Okai Koe from Airport residential area. When they put their life on the campaign trail and got the dirty insults, where were the teachers and Drs? In their classrooms and hospitals and making the money. MPs have to put all their resources into this political game. So you win, you really win. But you lose, you fucking lose it all. But the teachers and Drs job and salary still remains. Do you Know how much members of congress in the US earn? Do you Know how much the senators in the US earn? Do you Know how much the Us president and vice president and cabinet members earn? Do you Know that many doctors , lawyers, businessmen in the USA earn far more than the US president?
Being a politician in the US is not about becoming rich, rather it is about serving the people of the USA to the best of their abilities.
No wonder Our country is in the mess it is...it is neither NDC nor NPP we just have a bunch of the most incompetent people who can not be successful at anything other than running for public office to amass wealth at the expense of the majority of poor ghanaians. It is about time the majority of ghanaians wake up to the fact that they are not fighting other tribes but a group of incompetents whose only aim in life is to amass wealth on the backs of the ghanaian people!
Anyone seeking to be an MP must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and be fluent in English and a native language, and must have a mninmum of 5 years work experience managing people or equivqlent experience in the business /private sector .
Our country will be better off if the majority of qualified applicants who are on the sidelines because they detest the cut throat nature of our current political atmosphere get into the political ring!

Do you want to tell me that somebody who didn’t have bachelor degree but elected to the parliament should be paid different salary to those professors in the parliament? You must be out of your mind.
The parliament has a price tag. We cannot change it based on few unqualified lawmakers. By the way, even though they are not qualified as you wish, they are elected by a whole constituency to fight for them for their national cake. That’s why we call them representatives or delegates. Whoever they represent is none of your business. I don’t care if Drs receive more than MPs, just stop that comparison.
If you don’t want your job you can go to the parliament provided you could win. In actual fact, it’s only few people in parliament who can make a reasonable law. The rest are only there to help win support for passing bills. You don’t necessary have to know how to manage people to be able to hold political position. You are demn wrong

They served and contibuted their quota to the socio-economic activities like a teacher, a cocoa or rice farmer who is encountering a lot of dangers day in and day out in farming just to feed the nation.What about the teacher, the doctor,the taxi driver, the banker,and the list goes on and on.Are these people not serving the nation too?When will this kind of BULLSHITS stop in Ghana. I wish the western donors pay attention to how Ghana and of course the Africa countries misuse the funds they give out so that they would stop throwing their monies away.This is just crap and bullshit.Look at how this taxi cab driver turned MP is talking. What did you expect from a community college student-cum-cab driver resident in New Jersey with no managerial nor leadership skills whose rise to fame from running errands for Kuffour and other NPP leaders whenever they visited, was the political patronage he received from Kuffour after the clueless people of Asokwa had elected him as their MP? No wonder his performance as "Mayor" of Kumasi and MP marks him as one of the most performance-challenged and corrupt.

Though the late President Mills did well by paring down to 25% of what the criminal Chinery Hesse Committee recommended under the President who opened the floodgates to all this nonsense, Kuffour, he didn't go far enough taking into consideration the nation's financial situation. But then the MPs had started threatening to boycott parliamentary proceedings before he died.

When Mahama became the president, he should have called the bluff of these greedy people masquearding as MPs and pared the recommended emoluments further. The nation would've supported him in this endeavor and replaced those recalcitrant MPs. He would've done much to save this 4th Republic the politicians of which are going down in history as the least patriotic, least educated, least productive but the greediest and most callous.

As it is, Ghanaians ARE NOW READY TO END THIS 4TH REPUBLIC BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. The strikes will continue and the participants will increase. Time may be bought by acceding to the legitimate requests of the workers. However so long as Parliament continues to be self-serving, industrial actions will continue until something gives.

I was averse to coups and nearly lost my life in trying to foil one. But after a sober reflection, I've embraced them as being better even though in their early days, they use "unorthodox" means to stamp their authority. They're cheaper, more focused and less tribalistic.The human rights abuses choreographed and heaped on them by the West and our local politicians are hypocritical. They do better than their civilian counterparts who are always doing their best to line their pockets with loot from the state coffers while they turn the rest of the citizens into "drawers of water and hewers of wood." This is more egregious human rights abuse.

I can't wait for the 4th Republic to be consigned to the gutter where it belongs. Amen

Ghanaians are complaining (and rightly so) about the colossal amount being dished out as ex-gratia to the MPs and he has the guts to open his mouth to pour out such trash on us? Doesn't the tax payer have the right to complain about how his tax is being used/misused?
I have been reading the vituperations of this man (Kofi Jumah) who out of sheer 'luck' has found himself in parliament on the Internet for a long time, and I'm not surprised at all about his utterances.
Now tell me, Mr Jumah, what makes you think that MPs are 'higher' or better than our teachers and medical doctors? If you're refering to qualifications, I know of one MP (Alhaji Collins Dauda, MP for Asutifi north or South?) who is a mere 6th former 'A' level holder, but thanks to NDC government he has been a cabinet minister for close to 5 years. So you think just because Mr Dauda (not trying to personalise issues here)is an MP he's more respectable and 'higher' than our Doctors who have spent 6-7 years at the university to train as medical doctors. I tell you even some of our teachers have Masters degrees. But qualifications are not the issue here. My point is that everybody in Ghana is important irrespective of ones vocation. The farmer, the fisherman, the Makola trader, the taxi driver, the nurse, the Police man, the soldier, everybody must be respected. I'm very much disappointed in you Mr so-called Ghana ba. You are a disgrace to your fellow (dis) honourables. You lived in Canada for a very long time, but you dashed to Ghana as soon as NPP came to power so you can enjoy the booty, why did you not stay in Canada? You joined politics because you know there is free money there, and now you can insult the hard working people of Ghana just because you are an MP?
I think this should be an eye opener to the Ghanaian electorate that these NDC and NPP politicians are just taking them for a ride. If I ever have the chance to vote in Ghana, I will never vote for any politician from these two parties- they are full of themselves- Pride and arrogance.

We all know that 'excelling' in one's career is not a criterion for eligibility to Ghanaian parliament! But my cry is not really over the content of the comment per se. But the selfishness and anti-patroitic attitude that is proudly and lavishly displayed by those who are supposed to be our leaders!It's a shame!
