Someone tell me how,and why the UER is attracting all the supports. There must be a secret. Anyway luck them! Those who care to know may find out.

We are very encouraged by the efforts and commitment of the Upper East and Northern Regions and the districts that were selected for the first year of implementation of this new intervention (home-based maternal and newborn care), which resulted in the Government of Japan committing additional funds two more years 2013 and 2014. We do hope that the new districts that were brought on board in this second phase will demonstrate equal commitment. The presentations at the stakeholders' (review and) inception meeting in the UER were very rich and contained a lot of innovations and useful data. As mentioned in the meeting earlier this week, I urge the Region and Districts to further update the data and presentations, and to produce a more refined report that can be shared in wider fora as part of the Regions' Knowledge Management initiative. I also urge the Region and Districts to think through the roles and responsibilities matrix shared during the meeting to enable us define the appropriate model home-based newborn care for the implementing Regions, which model can be shared with the national level for possible adoption for Ghana.

Thanks to UNICEF for coming to the aid of the Upper east region. I will suggest that communities there will be educated on the long term effects of child mobidity and mortality.
Thank you.
