  EC has now become a political wing of the NDC. EC has now appointed Regional and District commissioners which is not mandated by the Constitution. Afari-Gyan is manipulating the whole nation for NDCs agenda. This man should be prosecuted and sent to jail!!!

  How did the commission handle the 'loads' of money it received from the govt and donor partners? Under the slogan of 'capacity building', lots of resources allocated for good causes are diverted into private pockets,while the business at hand is botched up!
  How can the EC expect to recruit motivated polling officials when it takes more than two to three months for these temporary staff to get paid?
  Not unlike other state agencies,controllers or pay officials hhang on to these funds,that are 'invested' in short-financial instruments, or used to fund private operations while those(employees) owed monies are made to suffer unnecessarily. This scheme that is replicated many times along the financial pipeline,will not end when transfers bypass some of the needed checks to ensure accountability.
  All MDAs receive budgetary allocations for the payment of utility bills;but have they applied these line item expenditures appropriately? Or is Bondzi envisaging a situation where payments flow directly to all the debtors of these govt agencies?

  Everything that is good for the nation never go down well with them especially if that will not give them the chance for manipulations. The country has enough money to sponsor people to Mecca, and enough to want to sponsor people to Israel for the their own pleasure that doesn't bring anything at all to the nation, and you guys never thought that was a burden to the tax payer, yet giving money to EC to enable them do a good job for the nation will burden tax payers and not good for you guys right?
  
  How is our beloved nation going to develop with people such as these? Look at our youth on the streets suffering, yet there is money to be wasted on stupid things that will bring nothing at all to the nation. Money is spent on unnecessary things.

  The government sponsoring people to Mecca and plan to do for those going to Jerusalem is wrong. However, that is not the point in this article. The issue whether we need a special vehicle to fund the EC. I personally believe it will be very foolish on the part of any government to do that. We should use more IT and let the local districts do that. This will lead to a downsizing of the bloated EC.

  Management not fund. Gyan failed ghanaians and cant blame it on fund because he had everything to ran a free and free elections but he failed. When a returning officer is not trained and tested, what do you expect from him/her. Poor management. When Gyan said returning officers dont work for EC, since then I know he doesnt know what his job is.

  What is it with Ghanaians always recommending the setting up of funds? Electctions can be done by the local district council and results updated to the EC. This is done all over the world.
  
  Each registered resident votes at his district with his electronically readable card. Records are always kept in local and government servers with different protocols to prevent data tampering. This will also help the local councils plan better, because at any point in time you know how many people live in your area, how amny are attaining a certain age, children of school-going age can be targeted and parents alerted to send them to school.
  
  These are the sensible proposals we should be talking about not setting up funds for some "intelligent" crooks to chop our money. The EC should be downsized it is too has become to big and proud.
