What piece of stupid journalism. So mental patients can function with some of their body parts. What is the big deal? I only hope that mad women are not allowed to get pregnant because how can she look after the child if she has mental problems. Also mental problem is hereditary so they can pass on mental weakness to the child. Doctor, tell your patients to use condom!

I will also like to know about community living (involvement) initiative. Regarding your question about side effects of medications, no 2 people with mental illness are the same. People have different reactions to drugs.

His associate, a Psychotherapist, comes around the corner next and he asks him about this. "Hey, what's with Mother Angelica? She was just hoofing down the hall and saying her rosary to beat the band." "Aw, I just told her she was pregnant." "My God, is she?" "No, of course not, but it sure cured her hiccups!"

After all, being sex starved can also send some people loopy or into lunatic behaviour. Some of the doctors and nurses sleep with the patients. It is a known fact. Let us do the right thing. Given that they are short-staffed and not supervised properly, of course they will get pregnant. A DNA at birth will establish the paternity of the father. There should be some CCTV in the communal areas and the men should be separated from the women at night, at least, locked away for the safety of the women and ladies.
The doctor needs to carry out further research by interviewing the patients.

Seriously? Do you know what is mental illness? Mental illness does not disqualify a person as a human being who has rights just like you do. Do you know that alcoholism is mental illness? if you drink couple of bottles each evening, like most people in Ghana, you are an alchoholic. Left untreated, could lead to devastating effects for the person and people around him. How many people do you know that fit the alcoholism model? Are they drinking because there is underlying symptoms of mood disorders (eg depression), or stressful life situations. Most of us have gone undiagnosed because we lack awareness. Mental illness is all around you, so practice empathy when approaching issues pertaining to others. Love.
