He should stop the supply of arms to his own people - The Nkonya's. As a very prominent personality, he shouldn't be doing that. It is very bad on his part.

I hail from both communities (Nkonya and Alavanyo communities). We have inter-married all these years. We are one people speaking both languages. Thank You Togbe Afede IX.

Mr. Issac Mintah is a VERY LAZY OR IRRESPONSIBLE JOURNALIST. I say so because NO FISHING is done in the towns of the clashes. The Volta Lake, which is employed for fishing activities, lies at least 6 kilometres away from the conflict areas (Nkonya Tayi and Alavanyo Kpeme);and fishing can never be put in danger because the only people who can endanger that activity are the Alavanyos, who have no direct "attack access" to the lakeside.

We need responsible and well informed journalist in this country, not half-baked ones who rush to feed bad information into the media.

The region desperately needs such a highly educated, humble and astute person full of wisdom and strategy, in the form of Togbe Afede to lead VOltat. I am hoping that by the time he goes "permanently to live in the far away village", which would not be for a very long time by His grace, Togbe would united Volta Region under his leadership.

True unity is much need in Volta because a house divided can never progress- and this is one of the key to Volta's lagging behind in development.

He was also instrumental in bring a truce to the Hohoe area as well, so I am sure he will help bring some sanity to this very green and beautiful area.

I agree,I do not understand why the Bombade commitee can not call spade a spade and people are loing thier lifes.The Nkonyas gave the Alavayos land to settle on today the are claiming ownership of the land.The surveryers came to demacate the boundary and found out that the alavayos have trespass. so the question is WHY is the commitee not implementing the surveyer final findings.The the alavayos will know that the portion of land does not belong to them,so they start paying yearly dues to the custodians of the land.

Truth has it that the land on which the Alavanyos are living today were given them by the people of Kpando and the people of Nkonya.

Is anyone trespassing the agreed boundaries? That is for the fact-finding people to determine, as there are maps of boundaries drawn by the German administrators, long before the trans-volta togoland became the Volta region of Ghana.

To answer your question, the "strangers" are the people of Alavanyo. I insist that this does not mean I support the conflict because it is a useless waste of life and resources.

There is documented proof of the fact that Nkonyas gave the newcomers land to live on and use just as other Guan and Akwamu chiefs also gave land for use by Ewes and Gas entering their territories. Guan rulers of Aburi gave the newly arriving Gas land to live in today's Accra and its environs after describing the arriving masses as Nkran fo or ants because of the huge numbers they saw coming in. All groups report of having met Akwamu and Guans already living here upon their arrival and this dispute is just another case of ewe thievery, but land is not cats

The truth is there for whoever wants it. For me, what is important is human life, and that reigns supreme over who is innocent and who is guilty.

The area in dispute is mostly a forest reserve, and must be enforece as such. Yesterday, I even suggested that part of that area be turned into a millitary training zone (e.g. jungle warfare training grounds). This will stop the conflict forever.

Who knows how long the political experiment called Ghana will last in history. An ethnic group in our part of Africa being a group of families tracing their origin to ancient blood relations and alliances is a stronget binding force than the European created nation state called Ghana. Therefore the talk about forest reserves belonging to Ghana does not hold any substance because Ghana could be redemarcated and redefined anytime because it is not a creation by natural bonds. A group bound by blood attracts more loyalty than a strange foreign colonial contraption as our so called Ghana. When Ghana at some future point in history disintegrates ethnicities will remain in existence and will know who originally owns which lands were given in trust to the administratore of the artificial state created at the whims of foreign colonial powers. You see therefore that game reserve or military training ground for Ghana is actually irrelevant bollocks for someone who knows the land is his into eternity whilst the state called Ghana is probably only a passing event in history.

If truth is to be adhered to and respected, the various committees that have been set up know who the owners of the land in dispute are. SO the question is: why are they not publishing the facts?

What is not acceptable is that blood is being shed over this dispute and this must cease. That is why there is the need to enforce the forest reserve status of the area.

Ewe people had never asked to remained Ghanaian. Your country has stolen our land (Volta region) after the first world war when both British and French beaten Germany. Ghana must return Togoland to Togo. Ewe Kingdom stretched from Benin to Volta region including the whole South of Togo. Ewe in Benin and Togo are the most educated people and richest.
