This is a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man but it is a shame Africa did not listen to his sermons and now, we are paying the price. It is too late!

HOWEVER, WHEN EDUCATED PEOPLE CALL EWES ' EKORO-INFESTED CAT EATERS', OR CALL NORTHERNERS 'PEPEFUP',IT REALLY DISAPPOINTS ME. TRIBAL BIGOTRY IS NOTHING BUT IGNORANCE MIXED WITH LOW SELF ESTEEM.
LET'S LEARN FROM ACHEBE. HE USED HIS LIFE TO SOW A SEED OF LOVE, WISDOM AND PRIDE IN MAMA AFRICA.

A colossus has fallen.
A great son of Africa has gone to be with his forebears.
Africa has truly lost a great son.
And yet his works will forever live on.
Chinua Achebe was Africa's foremost author. A genius who took the language of the coloniser to subvert colonalism and expose the hypocrisy of colonialists.
The simplicity of Achebe's writing was highly deceptive. Beneath it lay a powerful intellect and extraordinary story-telling talent, Achebe's genius lay in his ability to use a foreign language to express his own culture, to immerse his readers, whatever their background, in his own culture. Such a feat required exceptional skill.
Achebe's facility with language is aptly expressed in his aphorism - words are the cola with which stories are eaten.
Achebe should be given a truly African send-off. The Africa Union must liaise with the Nigerian government and Achebe's family to honour this literary giant. Achebe was a true son of Africa and did so much to defeat colonialism and put Africa on the map.
