'There have been literally hundreds, if not thousands, of articles written on these topics and several thousand comments and discussions in homes, offices, restaurants, etc. Ghanaians have been talking about these for as long as we have been a nation and yet it appears we are no closer to finding a solution today than we were forty or fifty years ago. Now, we all know the popular saying that one cannot expect a different result to come from doing things the same way. We have talked about corruption for a long time; we have written about corruption for a long time and these have not by themselves produced the solutions we have been seeking.'...'To this end, Ghanaians for Accountable Government (GhAG) has been formed to actually find practical working solutions to the Corruption and Mismanagement. This group is completely non-partisan and non-tribal...'.There are similar organizations.I think this article is the same as the article is about.I very much agree with your concerns. What I will suggest is,Mr.Mahama should declare one day as 'day of no corruption',it should be light-hearted.Every Ghanaian should respond well if Ghanaians are really concerned about the problem, and we see how Ghanaians feel about it,and how Ghanaians carry on from then.Try to pass on this idea to the president and may be something good will come out of it.I have similar posting-Check Ghanaweb headlines 15/3/13;Gov't is not sponsoring 200 pastors to Israel-Ras Mubarak.

This, to my mind, is a very worthwhile concern for the way our country is being wantonly sucked dry by those political leeches whose only concern is nothing but to feather their own nests. To me, all the glowing praises of progress and economic rise from the doldrums as a result of the huge caches of oil discovered, is only to dress the sore on the wrong leg. It is only to pull wool over the eyes of the world that Ghana is on the way to a nirvana. The country has not, in real tems, started reaping te benefits of the oil yet, but the chasm of the extreme social devide between the rich and poor is very evident in the daily life of the people.
Now, regarding such an accountability conference, I hope the organizers will not be seen as pouriung water on a duck's back. I hope they have lined up well-meaning nd concerned people in Ghana ready to take up the fight to the corridors of power and conscientize the people of Ghana to the social ills as seen from abroad. Their resolutions and communiques must be such as would be respectably chewed on and inwardly digested by those in authority.
Let the organizers select a few of the most pertinent issues of curruption - current, dragging and emerging - like the intractable "Wayomegate", the alleged bribery by an engineering firm in Britain alleged to have paid the college education fees for someone in authority, the new case of US$82million worth of gold being exported through Tripoli, Istanbul to an unestablished destination in Irana "laboratory samples"; the Asantehene's stolen gold case at a non-exhibitionist conference abroad; the expired water treatment chemicals for the Weija Water Treatment facility. These are just a few of the issues that have appeared on this ghanaweb, and for which, with al due deferesnce to Super OD, "we are looking into to it"!
On the Silver Spring Conference itself, organizing such an important meeting from mid-afternoon on a Saturnday, to be topped up with a free cocktail dinner, speaks a lot on winged words!
Let us give the Conference an aura of seriousness.
Kudos. More grease to the elbows of the organizers. May brothers and sisters in that city please arrange to attend.
