Is it a must that UG has to have residency for all the students? Most university around the world, especially the most prestigious ones, have not build residents for all their students, but yet thei still produce the best and patriotic scholars for their nation. How more Ghana that, over whelming majority of students from University of Ghana do not serve the natio. And even when they come to serve, nothing they produce other than stealling form government coffers and at the end of the day let people suffering. Does it mean they are competent? does it means they are usefull? Please for me, Ghana is just wasting money for them without anything in return. As a result, they need to take all the burden from their pocket.
However, if anyone want to challenge my point, give me only single person from UG who Ghana benefitted from. Even the great Rawlings did not graduate from Ug. At the end, what is the use of all this expenses?

A businessman walked into a New York City bank and asked for the loan officer. He said he was going to Europe on business for two weeks and needed to borrow $5,000. The loan officer said the bank would need some security for such a loan.
The business man then handed over the keys to a Rolls Royce that was parked on the street in front of the bank. Everything checked out and the loan officer accepted the car as collateral for the loan. An employee then drove the Rolls into the bank's underground garage and parked it there.
Two weeks later the businessman returned, repaid the $5,000 and the interest which came to $15.41.
The loan officer said, "We do appreciate your business and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a bit puzzled. While you were away we checked and found that you are a multimillionaire. What puzzles us is why you would bother to borrow $5,000?"
The business man replied: "Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for fifteen bucks?"

GO OUT THERE AND RECEIVE YOUR REWARD, ALL GHANAIANS. GO AND PAY THE PRICE FOR YOUR FOOLISHNESS. YOU DON'T GIVE A SECOND MANDATE TO AN INCOMPETENT AND CORRUPT GOVERNMENT, NO!! NOT AT ALL, THAT IS ABOMINATION IN DEMOCRACY, VERY SUICIDAL. HAD NDC MANAGED THE ECONOMY WELL, THESE ECONOMIC PROBLEMS WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THE SITUATION. NDC HAS PRESIDED OVER THE BIGGEST RESOURCES GHANA HAS EVER HAD. THEY HAVE ALSO CONTRACTED MORE LOANS THAN ANY OTHER GOVERNMENT IN OUR HISTORY, BUT THEY HAVE NOTHING TO SHOW FOR THIS. GHANAIANS SHOULD HAVE ENJOYED SOME ECONOMIC PROGRESS AT THIS TIME IN OUR HISTORY. THE ECONOMY IS COLLAPSING BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT IS SO CORRUPT. TO RESCUE THE SITUATION, THE POOR IS NOW BEING FORCED TO PAY. THIS IS INJUSTICE. THIS IS NOT THE GHANA KUFFOUR HANDED OVER TO NDC, HE EVEN ADDED FRESH CRUDE OIL WELLS. NPP TRANFORMED GHANA TO A MIDDLE INCOME ECONOMY WITH LIMITED RESOURCES BUT GOOD POLICIES. NDC IS WOEFULLY REVERSING THESE NPP ACHIEVEMENTS. GHANA'S CURRENT SITUATION IS VERY DISTURBING. WHEN THE HISTORY IS TOLD, IT WILL BE SAID THAT GHANAIANS WERE OFFERED FREE SECONDARY EDUCATION, IMPROVED UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE, SOCIAL HOUSING FOR THE POOR AND AN EGALITARIAN SOCIETY BUT 50% SAID NO THANK YOU. THEY PREFERRED ECONOMIC "WOYOMISATION" , PHANTOM DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS, PHILANDERERS FOR LEADERS, MACHIAVELLIAN DISRESPECTFUL CORRUPT LOUTS AND A VISIONLESS EVIL GOVERNMENT. I AM SO PROUD I VOTED FOR NANA AKUFFO ADDO.

Very good news. But how do you solve the issue of training these doctors at high cost to leave the country and those staying to become members of the striking coach?

RAISING FUNDS !!! ??
The University of Ghana must seriously get into the business of raising funds as most Universities in North America do. The fund raising must start with DONATIONS from Alumnae and Alumni.
In an article entitled:
“IS IT AN OBLIGATION FOR ALUMNI AND ALUMNAE TO SUPPORT THEIR ALMA MATER ?” published on Ghanaweb on Sunday February 24, 2013, I have suggested how the University of Ghana can raise THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS from past students.
I have e-mailed copies to:
The Vice Chancellor’s Office ( vcoffice@ug.edu.gh ) and the Alumni Office ( alumni@ug.edu.gh ).
I am still waiting for a reply or a REACTION of some sort..
It is O.K. for the government to aid the University. However, the University Administration must DEVELOP A FUND RAISING STRATEGY on its website,
Legon has produced WORLD-CLASS scholars. These scholars MUST now help Legon.
