They go to same market, pay the same price, educate their children and support their families like everyone else. They don't get preferential treatment as your comments seem to suggest. In addition all the equipments used in the facilities are bought with money. So please try and be sincere and honest with yourself when you comment on things like this. This a serious issue so let us put politics aside and confront the issue as a nation. The government must honour its obligation by paying all the bills so that the people can continue to enjoy the services rendered by this hospitals.

k. Boateng,
Benevolence implies that someone else will subsidize the services provided by Church associated hospitals. If National health insurance is not paying money to these hospitals for services they have already provided, it leaves them no other options. The alternative would be to close those hospitals down all together, which would be far worse.
Those running the NHIS should bury their heads in shame for pushing these very benevolent hospitals into this rather unpleasant situation. Rather than blame the hospitals, Ghanaians should demand answers from the government.Well-organized, peaceful demonstrations would be very effective in waking up the guys who are not doing their jobs. We can push the Government and its elected officers into doing the job they were elected to do, but we cannot force anybody into being benevolent!

The Attah Mills Better Ghana Agenda 1 was primarily aimed at improving health care, that failed miserably due to corruption and mismanagement of the inherited NHIS.
Now Better Ghana Agenda 11 is worsening and collapsing the the NHIA due to prevalent the NDC-led government sheer incompetence, gross mismanagement, ubiquituous fraudulent mentality of the NDC government from the president to the chorts down to the minstries and the public servants.
Lack of transparency, fraudulence, nepotism, corruption and egocentrism is written all over the NDC leadership. No wonder basic utilities and services are all collapsing. If voters fail to think but choose to elect people based on their flimsy and shambolic appearance then the will pay a painful price like Ghanaians are paying now.

He calls the Europen union development partners , this very same group that spends hundreds of billions on failed states with no potential or natural resources and yet can not even drop 20 billion at the bank of Ghana, but are rather jealous the chinese are able to string along Ghana and they are not sending the country on a another jolly ride themselves. Instead of having chief bullshitter fifi kwetey receive their delegation on his behalf he humiliates us and the institution of the presidency by giving them the time of day. He is not aware his true partners in thick and thin , good or bad are the PEOPLE of Ghana and that the waache seller on the street corner contributes more to the economy than all these foreign messengers put together as they for every dollar they give will eventual extract 10,000 or more. his elementary school mathematics in this regard is nonexistent. He should be spending his time finding out why the civil service is not being productive or approving projects that are profitable instead of spending valuable time on these useless evil motivated scum of the earth foreigners who only wish the downfall and further suffering of the people .

It is always the government sector who owes money on health,education, transport utility servi8ces and name them. In the end they find a cunny way to pass it on to the poor citizen.
This is why privatization is good to some extent in order to expose government in a situation like this.
Just imagine paying foolish people who have been voted to power to serve the country going on unecessary strikes, boycotting parliament, under performing at the ministries and even to the level of paying legal feels on foolish litigation and yet unable to pay these hospitals.
It is always the lazy ones who don't want the government owned business to be partly privatized or fully.
Shame unto all those earning fat monies and offering no quality service to the nation.

The Physician's Oath was codified in the Declaration of Geneva (1948) by the World Medical Association.
At the time of being admitted as a member of the medical profession:
I solemnly pledge myself to consecrate my life to the service of humanity;
I will give to my teachers the respect and gratitude which is their due;
I will practice my profession with conscience and dignity;
The health of my patient will be my first consideration;
I will respect the secrets which are confided in me;
I will maintain by all the means in my power, the honour and the noble traditions of the medical profession;
My colleagues will be my brothers and sisters;
I will not permit considerations of religion, nationality, race, gender, politics, socioeconomic standing, or sexual orientation to intervene between my duty and my patient;
I will maintain the utmost respect for human life; even under threat, I will not use my medical knowledge contrary to the laws of humanity;
I make these promises solemnly, freely and upon my honour. Source wikipedia

I think it's ppl like u atiamah who make govts lazy. Always quoting oaths. Did any part of the oath say health care delivery should be free or that providers shd continue providing health services when they are owed for six months. Lets get serious and make Ghana a better place. Government has no money to pay NHIS bills yet it has money to pay MPs Ghc 50, 000 for rent. Dr buckle did not say health facilities will not work, but that those NHIS card bearers who come will have to pay for services. I pray for the day govt health facilities will do same instead of keeping quiet and providing substandard services to patients. How can u owe hospitals for more than six months and expect them to survive?

ON WHAT AND HOW EXACTLY IS THE GOVERNMENT USING GHANA'S MONEY FOR, THE GOVERNMENT OWNS EVERY SINGLE SERVICE PROVIDER IN GHANA WHAT IS GOING ON IN GHANA.
It is pity Govt is using more of its Reactive Powers than Proactive Powers. Govt cannot project issues before it happens.
This weakness is what state machineries are using to lambast the weakness of NDC Govt.
It's sad to see all this problems going on with our NHS. All what the Government have to do is to go back with the old system whereby we pay 5CEDIS OR 10 CEDIS to HELP maintain the NHS.
i gooo bee kee kee in big problem.he will smell pepper and ganger.

Politicians don't have to use these local hospitals so why should they care if these hospitals are suspending services or if they grind to a halt for lack of money? They have their hospitals in South Africa, to Israel, to Eur ...

If Sylvester is a non performer and is holding onto such a managerial position, whose fault is it?
It is the fault a corrupt and incompetent government.
We can afford to pay Woyome but we cannot afford to pay these hospitals taken care of the sick with their limited resources. WHAT A COUNTRY !
The Misssionary hospitals are also run at a cost just as the minister of energy is justifying the increased tarrifs from VRA, ECG etc.
So the caretaking govt must first pay up its debt to the hospitals if they want services ...
