When Kwaku Baako informed us about the atrocities of Kwesi Pratt during PNDC Regime, some of us did not believe until the truth was confirmed during the NRC. Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. Now Pratt has the guts to take Diplomatic Passport and smuggled his weak-headed children to work at the Ministries under Mills NDC, may God forgive Pratt and his dependance and spare them of the evils ahead of them...

We have seen the enemy of the Ghanian experiment or democrazy, and it's our unaccountable government.
Our politicians and MPs get perks upon perks, and why not? After all, they are the real Ghanians. Mind you, it's survival of the fittest.
Why should the citizenry be forced to pay for gov't 9 billion election year overspending through VAT and other taxes increase?
Where is our Right to Information Act? Where are our strong institutions, systems, procedures/processes, game changers for effective transformation and not slick or strong men?
Right now, all we have are bloated payrolls, bloated egos, and bloated government. Funny we should have the audacity to talk about the problem of wage bill or meat down to the bone.
But then again, I guess the cheek of it all is some voters want Right To Information Act, 12,000 megawatts power supply, and the freedom to elect their own local government representatives to the local MMDAs, when honourable MPs only just got fifty thousand for rent allowances, ex-gratia every four years, just renovated $100 million Job 600 parliamentary complex, 45 more MPs also to suck/feed on our tiny resources to make it more bloated payroll, brand new computers for all MPs to boot.
Besides, MPs get free petrol also as perk, car loans every four years, over 130% pay raise and made retroactive to January 2009; who care about energy crisis, MPs do brains work. Still, some good for nothing voters think that it's easy to be a MP in this country.
Our MPs even want an enlarged and more elegant parliament, because the present one doesn't befit their status, or large enough to contain 275 MPs. They are also talking about $10 million constituencies office that in actuality is overdue. However, MPs spend 80% of their time in Accra and not in their constituencies.
Straight-up and no chaser, our politicians and parliament does not favor the country or the citizenry. Real Decentralization, elected local representatives to MMDAs is overdue.
Things fall apart when the center can not hold, time will tell.
We need transparency in our system of governance.
We need probity and accountability in this digital era or e-governance. How do we even think of issuing non citizens id cards when we don't have comprehensive address system, permanent records keeping database and so forth?

The state should not fund MPs constituency offices because that should be a matter for the party the MP represents. Where will the constituency offices be built? For example, if it is built in town A where the current MP is from and s/he is not re-elected at the next election, is the next MP who may be from town C about 10 miles away be expected to work from 10 miles away? Or will NDC and NPP MPs work from the same office as the MPs are most likely to come from one of them at a time? The constituency offices should be at the constituency HQ and should be the responsibility of the parties and not the state. Such expenditure would be waste of scarce resources.

Thanks for your response. Kumasi is made up of many constituencies , so they will have more offices and therefore bringing administration and focus to that part of kumasi , not the whole kumasi as one unit. We need dis-centralisation of administration. Do not forget that the builders will be local and all activities will bring jobs, even painting can be done by a local youth .What the youth need is to get training to make them employable.
Completing SHS of JHS does not make you employable. get yourselves trained .

And you think this is a priority? When the Govt owes VRA over GHC 500m? Is this not an excuse to saddle us further with over inflated contracts to build these offices?
