My good friend, you have given a free of charge laudable advice to our NPP politicians, but l doubt if they are ready to listen and not commend or welcome your advice with insults. They must start planning for 2016 and it must be now or they should forget ever wining election again in Ghana. Especially, now that they are giving "Sate of the Nation Address in opposition".

What is natural Constituencies? Anyway to the point. As far as statistics are concerned NPP has never won Central, Western and Brong Ahafo. May be the NPP might have won in the regional capitals in these regions but not the entire regions..
Mr Wansema Pobee should know that Western, Central and Brong Ahafo regions were captured by the NDC through the efforts of JJ Rawalings and they have since remained NDC 'natural constituencies'......hahahahahahahahahahaha
But....But your advice should be a welcome package for the NPP, good advice..

What you need in a leader of the kind you refer to is to build a team around them and to have a clear and focused vision for where they wish to take the country and people with them. They must be ONE-NATION types and beyond tribal politics and cheap, negative political point-scoring without concrete ideas about how to make things different and better. They must have a plan, a credible plan for which details of policies etc. will be fleshed out over time in preparation for the election push. Whilst all this is going on, they must be recognized and officially elected by their party and offered the support from across the party constituencies to be respected and well supported. I disagree with you that for the NPP such a person should be found in the Western, Central or Brong Ahafo region.
That approach to me is part of the problem the NPP is currently grappling with. What the party needs is a leader of substance, IRRESPECTIVE of region. Currently NPP's limitation lies in the way they have built their party up to be skewed only in certain regions and not others, unlike e.g. the NDC which can identify and pick their leaders from any part of the country and no one will be surprised about that. Having said that, I am yet to see the NDC select an Asante as their leader, this perhaps being as unlikely as it is for the NPP to choose someone from the Volta region as their leader, given present realities within these two parties!!!
Finally your point about the danger of a one party system is unfounded and will only happen in fact, if the opposition (be it NPP and /or other parties) post-2016, were they to lose the elections, to continue down this stupid path of destruction and refusing to work as a credible opposition. That need not be the case, and will certainly not be good for Ghana's democracy. However it is worth 'educating' the opposition about their important role in ensuring good governance and political accountability in the country, a responsibility which thus far, has been shirked by the current crop who seem to think only in terms of amassing power, not contributing to running the country. In short, they are giving the government a 'free ride' whilst simply 'shouting on the rooftop'. It reminds me of the near destruction of the UK Labour party which allowed Margaret Thatcher and the Conservative party to run the country (some will say run it down) for 18 years from 1979 till 1997 when they were able to rebuild the party and win back power.
