The NDC would have to explain to Ghanaians how a dead man came to author and sign a letter!
The opening paragraph states, “I came to serve; I have finished my time here on earth and have moved on to everlasting rest and celestial duties with my heavenly father.”
The immediate question is; how did the dead man come to sign his own personal tribute, since he is already in heaven?
The letter then goes on melodramatically, “As you leaf through these pages of my life’s story, I pray to God that it touches your heart in many positive ways. Weep not, I am not dead. I am alive and awake in the Lord. Ghana will not die; Ghana will live to declare the works of the Lord. As I rest in perfect peace in the celestial realms with my maker, I pledge to always uphold and defend the good name of Ghana. Remember the Lord in all your ways and He will protect you. Stay well my brothers and sisters, I will always be with you. Signed (with actual signature) John Evans Atta Mills...

Regulatory Agencies like EPA,Minerals Commission,Water Resource Commission etc might not have been resourced to the brim for them to effectively carry out their regulatory and monitoring duties yet these bodies occupy state of the art offices and edifices in ACCRA.Their major concerns include air conditioned bungalows, air conditioned cars, connivance with illegal explorers with impunity and many other nefarious activities detrimental to the interest of the state. If we can not imbibe a little sense of patriotism in our public attitude no amount of resource injected into these agencies would yield any positive results for our nation.

The African is not an inferior being, but he has not the ability to manage resources, even those he creates. He is impervious to the rule of law and has been fooled into saddling himself with this thing called democracy and multi-party elections. That kind of government is unworkable in our continent, for Africans respond best only to strong discipline. That is why the continent must rid itself of these leaders who emerge after elections and embrace visionary, fair and strong dictators who can lay rules down to be followed. Lack of the rule of law and order, that is the bane of Africa. If we do not wake up, we shall lose our country and become indentured servants to these wicked foreigners and it will not take long. If you thought western imperialism was bad, wait until these easterners wait until these easterners have you boxed in. This is where things are trending.

To this day she like many other well wishing Americans I've met will never go back because in their opinion based on living there for years, our worship of the 'oburoni' or lighter skinned people will take millennia to overcome and only then can Ghana have a chance in getting over the fecklessness that's rampant in high and low places .Yen ara asaase ni? Slave mentality is alive and kicking in Ghana. So-long-as the white skin is held in higher esteem I can assure the nation that we are doom. However, one can also see the situation (mining) as another group of mining operations which the laws is yet to address. The levels of business opportunities in our country lack expansion as it is limited for very long time to a narrow-minded-strategy, which increases the vulnerability of the peoples exposing them to grave exploitations of both human and natural resources. Our country must begin to put in place efficient provisions that is can encourage social inclusion of the peoples and investment capital and to link it to job creation, tax collection, and social security. Ghana is at a cross road and we must begin to regulate, promote employment, local and international investment and greater integration of economic resources for the betterment of our peoples. Nothing is better than opportunity created by the peoples for the peoples. So Mr. President do not destroy the China's' investment, put conditions and make sure labour conditions, taxes and social security is inclusive and paid to the rightful corporation for credit of the peoples account. Mr. President, peoples' business is not one-way-traffic. to be continue.......

You're right. It's not only wrong for foreigners to come to Ghana and pollute our river bodies, the source of drinking water and irrigation but equally wrong for indignees to pollute our rivers. If the existing regulations cannot be enforced effectively then no one should be allowed to operate small scale mining. If the regulations have to be overlooked just for some people to make their money and result in endangering the lives of other citizens then we might as well stop altogether the galamsey wahala. There's no country in the world except perhaps in Africa where a foreign national would be allowed to pollute their source of drinking water and for irrigation purposes. This won't happen in America and anywhere in the developed world nor in China so why should it happen here in Ghana? Laws are made to be enforced not to be disregarded. None should be above the law and that include chiefs.Ghanaian or non-ghanaian, no regulations enforcement no galamsey. Period !

We have everything to succeed as a nation but after 56 years of sovereignty we keep stumbling as a nation. Our economy has been quarantined in the woods waiting for healing from the great messiah we are yet to know.
Our problems are not as a result of a lack of sufficient laws in our statute books but a lack of enforcement of existing laws. There're a number of reasons for this state of affairs. First it appears black people wherever they live abhor laws and perhaps think of laws as a hindrance or limitation to their freedom. There's nothing like absolute freedom which is a synonym for anarchy and chaos. Perhaps we're innately allergic to discipline .
There has to be a zero tolerance for indiscipline as well as for corruption because the two are bed fellows.Indiscipline which severely afflicts most ghanaians and is no respecter of persons must be confronted, arrested and dealt with but not condoned and tolerated.
Just as indiscipline is no respecter of persons so must the law be no respecter of persons. It's not uncommon to hear someone up on the social ladder threaten another down the ladder with the words "I'll slap you and throw you into jail too". Where else will this happen except in places like Ghana where the law has been corrupted to favor the rich and more affluent in the society but punishes the offending or sometimes innocent poor with no high-up connections to intercede in their behalf. This is a plan to fail and is anybody surprised we're failing year after year? It's also not uncommon to hear someone screaming at another "do you know who I am" ? It's incredible that some among us can get away with murder and massive corruption when there's enough evidence to convict them . Is this not another plan for failure. Ghanaians may say all they want about the western world but one of the reasons for their success at democratic rule and nation building has been their respect for the rule of law. No nation can succeed when its citizens treat the laws of the land with impunity. If the law is treated this way then like the salt which has lost its savor it's good for nothing but to be trodden under the feet of men.
Law enforcement in Ghana has not been successful because they cannot operate independently and freely without undue interference from government sources. No, we are not serious as a nation.

My dear brother, K. Badu, has said it all. I wish President Mahama, and the officials of the Minerals Commission and the Environmental Protection Agency would read Badu piece.
If we enact laws and refuse to enforce them who are we deceiving? There is too much corruption in the Ghanaian public institutions. In fact, corruption is "killing" our beloved country. The act of corruption prevents implementation of laws.
President Mahama, stop those "talk shops" and act now to save our beloved country from the hands of these Chinese miners. Can a Ghanaian go to China and begin to do something similar to what the Chinese illegal miners do our country?
As Badu rightly said, the Presidents and the public officers know what is going on. They have kept quiet all this while because of their personal interest.
Anyway, let's wait to see if President Mahama would put his words into action for us to take him serious.
Badu, a very good work done!
