TUC is right to champion workers rights expecially for pay increase. But it shouldn't be only pay increase. Until the president challenged the TUC recently to also champion and be part of the job creation process, when was the last time the TUC talk, hold congress and strike for job creation. It is always we will go strike for pay and criticism. Nothing else. Please wise up TUC.

This government invests more in the public sector at the expense of the private sector by over 100% pay rises. At the same time heavy levy’s and taxes on imported goods and commodities (items the country don’t even make). When you talk about job creation, talk more about the private sector where profits for the nation can be made, industries, commerce, farming and retails to boost our GDP whilst the government sector merely squanders’ the treasury port.
They both have to co-exist but a sensible government should know that you promote and make it viable to do business in the country in order to reap off the benefits to pay the private sector. Ministers, parliamentarians, doctors and the general public sectors pay increase are not self sustainable. You cannot borrow money from abroad to pay your workers. Promote the private sector more, spread your taxation span more broadly and reasonably to catch everyone in a moderate form and not as punishment on only those who have to import and export.
We love to pay taxes to help our nation but the current measures at the ports are just ridiculously outrageous. For example most old cars imported the total aggregate charges sums up more than the original cost from the home country. Basic industrial imports into the country too, we end up paying more at our ports than the total cost of those items. This is not going to bring job creation, it would only cripple jobs. This is also a plea to the government to wise up

Just talking won't solve the problem. These cocoa, timber and gold were not produced by govt,it's the private sector that we must encourage to be more innovative and productive.Govt is not producing anything, how could it create sustainable jobs?Govt must continue to invest in strategic infrastructure like the energy sector, roads, transport, ports, water and housing. As for the TUC they have the responsibility to fight for workers' training schemes, professional orientation of unemployees and proper administration of employment.I remember in those good old days, every school leaver knows that you must get a Labour Card before employment so they all go to Labour Offices to register.Today, everything is messed up,everybody is doing what they like. Our institutions have broken down, bribery and corruption have eaten our heads,no proper planning,no proper administration and no proper monitoring. We have only managed to produced graduates who are all as corrupt as their professors so that's what we get from them.Thank you.

These are the tertiary programs that create jobs: Plastic technology, paper technology, metallurgy, auto mechanics, textile technology, food technology, electronics, etc. Tell me if Legon is offering any of these course. I tell you, no serious nation has ever used general education to initiate development. Those who built the USA were professional soldiers and those who built the UK were merchants. We in Ghana, instead of focusing on specialized education, are busy producing bogus scholars who cannot even write books.

WE MUST THEREFORE LET OUR BRAINS WORK TO BUILD SUCCESSFUL COMPANIES AND TO ABSORB THE UNEMPLOYED IN THE COUNTRY.
THERE IS NOTHING WORSE THAN ACTIVE IGNORANCE.

Putting structures in place to shun off the private sector, will never solve the unemployment problems facing the nation.
