Fellow country men and women, so if we have such a team of criminals leading

people of this nation?
Atta Mills always claim he is a Christian, Asomdweehene and the so-called Defender of Faith if leading
such a barrage of thieves, criminals

No political figure nor army officer in a case like this would give orders to kill. Normally officers directly handling suspects over react and cause such deaths and injuries, if there will be any order it will be to arrest and detain. Giving orders to arrest and detain suspects is not a crime, it only becomes a problem when the suspects are mishandled. If orders were giving by a politician or a higher officer it would have come up in the investigations. Samia has also probably forgotten too soon what happened to others under her father's regime

This is what Samia is saying! The two men in uniform did not jump on their own and went for the man from the Police station! Reason a bit with Samia! In your logical analysis, Army Barracks is where civilians are kept? Is it the police who arrest for the Army or the Army arrest and hand criminals over to the Police? Please!

The sentencing of the two soldiers is not justice. Soldiers don't get up on their own to beat up civilians brought to their Guardrooms in the current democratic dispensation as happened to Mr. Mobila leading to his death. They were instructed/ordered. To sentence them while those who gave the orders go scot free is the height of injustice!!! It is like arresting a man selling little quantities of drugs while the drug baron is free to continue with their trade.
In ALL Military camps, there are people who perform duties every 24 hrs and one of them is the Duty Officer. As it denotes, he/she is a commissioned officer or when there are shortages of commissioned officers due duty elswhere such as UN operations, a Senior Non Commisioned Officer (SNCO) of the rank of a WO, S/Sgt or Sgt will perform that role. That Duty Officer is held responsible for everything that happens during his/her tour of duty.
Strangely, we have not heard of any Duty Officer being charged. The Duty Officer of that day was heard on his cell phone taking instructions from the one at the other end to beat up and tourture Mobila. The Officer then gave the orders for Mobila to be tortured. Strangely, NPP govt sent the Duty Officer outside on course as soon as investigations started.
The grievous harm this is going to cause the Ghana Armed Forces will be very high. Since the Duty Officer has been left off hook, an Other Rank (OR) tomorrow will refuse to obey the orders of an Officer citing this very case that when these two soldiers obeyed the orders of the Duty Officer, they faced the music alone.
Tomorrow, when Ghana goes to war and orders are given, ORs can decide not to obey and that could lead to our defeat. Don't forget the axiom of the Military that "Do before complain".

The principle of international law as expressed under the Geneva convention governing the conduct of soldiers is based on individual responsibility. This enjoins soldiers to refuse illegal orders or they will be individually held accountable even taken into consideration the order from above mentality. The senior officers who must know better must held accountable for their role in the murder.Once they have been identified, they ought to be brought before the law otherwise justice will be seen not to have been done to the Mobila family.Justice for the murdered.

President Salvador Allende's foreign minister was killed in Washington soon after the 1973 CIA financed coup in Chile, it took over 30 years to bring the killers to justice. So must the struggle to bring the officer(s) (who were sent on peacekeeping mission after the murder) to justice. Samia, we support you and the CPP leadership on this matter. No to impunity. Fate had it that I saw myself locked-up in the same guardroom where Issa Mobila was tortured to death in 1969. It was when I was preventing a little ram of my brother in-law, then a Staff Sargent from entering the parade grounds. I was arrested by a military police corporal. I was earlier banned from the barracks during the evening and night because there was a suspicion that I will be sleeping with the wives of the soldiers when they are out of the barracks on training. It will interest you that there were older boys in the barracks and also in that particular quarters there were three of us boys, one who was older than me but were not affected by the ban.
My ghost thus refused to be a senior of torture to my comrade Issa Mobila, he an exposed CPP man and I underground.

It is good to hear from Samia but I think the CPP has been too comatosed over this Mobila killing. Even Rawlings had campaigned more for the culprits to be brought to book. While the trial was going on, the CPP should have been campaigning for the snr. officers known to have instructed those privates to beat up Mobila to be charged too, not wait until the trial is over before making noise. They should have been calling on govt to use Interpol to arrest absconded Goka but nothing, nothing! They should have seized the opportunity to become the common people's defenders by seizing on every news of police brutality on poor civilians to call a halt to brutalities on civilians and going to court on a pro bono basis to defend the victims and asking for compensation for them. But nothing of the sort happened. This is all a reflection of the pathetic and reactionary level the CPP has fallen to! I am pro-Nkrumaist but definitely cannot see myself in the CPP of today. It stinks and is clueless!
