GJA current leaders have failed and must be kicked-out
The Concern Journalists Association of Ghana (CJA-Ghana) has expressed indignation about the attitude and operations of the current leadership of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and called for total overhauling of the leadership.
The CJA-Ghana noted that the current leadership failed to set-up oversight committees in accordance to the GJA constitution; failed to organise an annual GJA General Meeting for the past three years; and failed to render account for stewardship over the period.
Through the activities of the current leadership the Greater Accra Regional branched has collapsed; all GJA chapters at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC); Graphic Communications; Ghana News Agency (GNA); Ghanaian Times among the lot are malfunctioning.
The GJA has also failed to rope in others especially the private media; infrastructure at the press centre has not been improved upon; rubbish; poor condition at the press hall; lack of discipline and totally break down of the power of the association.
The GJA executives without consulting the rank and file decided to postponed GFA elections when it was due last year to this year claiming it was close to the national elections.
CJA-Ghana is calling on Mr Ransford Tetteh, Mr Affail Monney; Dave Abgenu, Mrs Linda Asante Agyei to render account before elections next month.
The CJA-Ghana is also asking the GJA leadership why the 2012 award winners have not received their prizes even though sponsors have already honoured their sponsorship package.
The CJA-Ghana also demand from the GJA leadership how much was raised towards for last year’s Awards Dinner were for the first time people who attended were only offered peanut and coca cola.
They must published in full the details of sponsors for last year’s awards dinner, name of institution; type of sponsorship etc
The CJA-Ghana called for a revolution in the GJA to save the association; “We call on all members to wake up and save the association”.
The Ghana Journalists Association's (GJA) Elections Committee yesterday announced the list of candidates contesting the 2013 national and regional elections of the Association.

The GJA Elections Committee has announced that vetting of the candidates for national executive positions would take place on Tuesday February 12 at the Ghana International Press Centre at 1200 hours.
It said as per the GJA Constitution Article [48] [c] [ii] the committee wish to inform all members that the nominations have been extended to Monday February 11 2013 for uncontested positions only and urged interested parties to contact regional election assistants for nomination forms.
