Ghana prides hetself as the showpiece of everything good in Africa but we fail to realize that we are gradually becoming a failed state. Why should people queue for passport in modern Ghana. Please don't take us back to the 1980s when it took people about a year to get passport. Even then, one had to have cconnection.
It is a shame that the whole Accra passport office can boast of only three Desk top computers? How much do computers cost? Mahama, how many computers did you dole out to activists during the campaign? What about scanners? Do we need to dole cars to regional house of chiefs when our passport office cannot be equipped?
Is it not the shortages that leads to bribery? Mahama,gird your loins because it is not easy to be prez. Ask Jerry and Kuffour if you doubt it. Can't you fire people who do not perform? That will come to your doorsteps now.

Maybe it has increased by a bit, but as I recall the fee for a US passport is probably equivalent to a minimum wage earners 8 hour day salary. Under $100.

I don't really know exactly how much one has to spend to eventually acquire a Ghanaian Toilet Roll travel document, but I don't blame the government I blame "We The People". I have watched Ghanaians and still do watch them function on a daily basis, and I ponder about what God used to create us body, soul and brains.

The British set up perfect systems for us to have flourished immensely by, by now, but to my amazement, we have actually denigrated all the systems, bastardized all new developments and still continue to suppress development through greed and selfishness.

Are we human or...every government system in Ghana is dysfunctional, every day Ghanaians walking the streets of Accra act like retards, everyone subjects themselves to the lawless attitude with impunity - What more are you people complaining about?

Why do people even complain about anything in Ghana, because that very people who publish articles here to lambaste other institutions, are the very people who will be perpetuating all these acts.

The Director of passport, E.O Anim's reasons for the delays is empty, baseless and typical of most heads of Ghana institutions apathy to problems.
The real problems are not the short of computers and scanners but the intentional slowness on how personnel s at the passport office work. The slower they work and process passports the more money they make from desperate applicants paying them bribes for preferential treatment. This was happening when I got my passport in 1983 before leaving to the UK and laughable that after 30 years the same problems exists.

That guy must get the sack. This is where thinking outside the box is important.

You can't buy new machines but you have diesel for your 4x4's. Young Ghanaians are turning old discarded engines into heavy duty water pumps to irrigate their farms and you can't employ a fitter to make a generator for you? You get free diesel for crying out loud. You don't get funds to buy more expensive equipment BUT you can employ real IT people to network your IT system so nobody will have to travel around looking for their data.

Who says you need more cash to function properly?

Whoever sold this biometric idea to Ghana knew from the start Ghana's leaders were incapable of best practices and procedure to make either the elections become a success or the passport office succeed in whatever the heck it was they needed to get done. There are those in Ghana and in the Diaspora who will sell Ghana government anything they read and or hear about and collect their rather high profit margins through their contacts in higher places of government. The sale of biometric system to Ghana was not based on knowledge and or effecting efficiency and minimizing bribery, corruption and system tampering but on profit to be made.
Ghana' passport office has been leaking for ages because those who work at their offices and applicants have this symbiotic relations; they will seek and obtain the Ghanaian passport for anyone without adequate documentation but for money. Replacing the old passport system with a biometric system is not going to help Ghana as long as Ghana does not have a way of validating and or ascertaining who is a Ghanaian and who is not. Did Ghana not have a phony Ghanaian serve in Parliament for years?. How did the criminal MP obtain Ghana passport? What happened during the 2012 elections when the EC and all these childish Ghanaian political parties were hooting and tooting about a biometric /electronic voting system?
A nation without independent, effective and efficient institutions cannot survive irrespective of how much money is pumped into the institution and or effective oversight of operations.

We prefer leaving our work place and spending the whole day in queues. After a hectic struggle and bribe paying for days and sometimes weeks, it feels very Ghanaian when you get a passport after such struggles. We just want to feel Ghanaian not Europeans who get their things done in an orderly less cumbersome way. We remain Ghanaians including our leaders.

It is about time the Director of Passports in Accra given his walking papers.He is too corrupt and incompetent.He has the nerve to complain instead of doing his job.Tweah. Sack him immediately.

It has been a suprise for how long a passport can be processed.This because it almost four month now i opted for a passport and it still not yet in.Another concern is about them getting a software that will inform an applicant whether his/her passport is ready because people from far place come to collect their passport on the collection day and all what they tell them is to report the next month.

I have gone through every process concerning passport and they give 3 weeks yo come and collect my passport but is almost 6month now when I go they said is not in.
