Prof. Frimpong-Boateng Is Being Disrespectful - Nii Lante

The former Operations Director of the Mills administration, Mr. Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has stated that contrary to allegations by some, no one forced President Mills to stay in office against his will.

The one-time close confidant of the late President, who is now a Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo Constituency, told The Finder newspaper that “anybody who knows Professor Mills would attest to the fact that he was a strong person who could not be coerced to do anything against his will.”

On Tuesday morning, renowned cardiologist and former Korle Bu Teaching Hospital CEO, Prof Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng indicated that some individuals in the Mills government pushed for the late President to stay in office for their parochial interests and despite Prof Mills’ ailing health.

In the wake of the late President’s transition, Former President Jerry John Rawlings and others also accused people close to the late President of not acting in the latter’s best interests.

Interviewed on Okay FM yesterday, Prof Frimpong-Boateng also supported the call for an enquiry into the death of President Mills, a call the Ghana Medical Association had made earlier on.

Speaking to The Finder, however, Mr. Lante Vanderpuye said Prof Frimpong-Boateng “can’t be serious… I am wondering why he is bringing this issue back six months after Mills death, when his [Mills’] family is coming to terms with the reality.”

Nii Lante argued that the medical professor was being disrespectful to people like him who were very close to the late President.

“When they do these things they are showing disrespect to us. They are assuming we are unintelligent, stupid and naive, and that is not the best for Prof Mills.”

“It beats my imagination; why didn’t he then tell the whole world that he [Professor Mills] was lying by his medical knowledged when the Professor on several occasion publicly denied reports about his health.”
