Instead of these lawyers talking about the urgent need for Ghana to construct separate institutions for housing and correcting these sexual deviants if there are any, they are talking about the court stating Ghana's position. Gay/lesbian rights have contemporary become the biggest human rights issue in almost every corner of the world, and rightly so, Ghana is also confronted with such important subject.

The big issue for the government is that can we as a modern and democratic country constitutionally afford to deny a segment of the population human rights because of their sexual lifestyles or any other behaviour considered to be “abnormal?”

Fellow Ghanaians of all political stripes and faiths need to know that while we have the right to condemn others’ sexual preferences based on our respective religious or traditional beliefs, the supreme law of the land (the constitution) does not permit any discriminatory practices that are directed towards others – minority groups.
Constitutionally, the human rights of every citizen, even convicted criminals must be respected and protected, especially when we profess to a democratic nation.
If we do not agree with what gays and lesbians do (sexually), Ghana’s constitution allows us to criticise or condemn their behaviour. The supreme law of the land however requires us to respect and protect their human rights.

All I can say is, "he who is without sin, throw the first stone". It is sad as a society, we seem not to move forward instead of attack one another. Have you all sat down and asked yourself why will someone subject himself or herself to ridicule by being GAY? It is not someone one will decide to be and deep down inside, we know people within our families that are GAY and yet as a society, we turn our eyes on supporting and helping them live a life just as anyone. This is basic human rights and nothing to do with religion. Ghana needs to move forward and such primitive ideologies about homosexuality needs to be left alone and we live as one people. It is so shameful in this day, people in Ghana are killing themselves because of their sexuality, yet we cry and bury them but will not do anything to prevent these deaths. What a primitive society we live in. Grow up people and repect a basic human right. Does anyone question what you all heterosexuals do in your bedrooms? I pray for your souls.

THe constitution does not prohibit discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation.
