Sometimes we wonder where our blessings or curses come from. Those who live under cursed rullers dont even know they are cursed likewise those who live blessed because its become their lifestyle and normal, I conclude that you forever remain under curse for the rest of your life, those who bless their nation always look for the good things that comes with blessings. Speak blessings for yourself and there will be blessings wherever you are, speak well for your country and it will be, foreigners love Ghana but Ghanains just like to be Ghanaiansand have no love for their country. Stop blaming everythying on government, whenever there is any form of hardship we blame the government istead of finding a better solution towork thigs out, there is a periodic situation that needs prompt solution, but rather we are so quick to play the blame game, we easily forget that whilst pointing a finger at someone the other three points back to you.

Yes, I said only God sent solutions can curb the incivility in this society. Just the other night I was driving across that stretch of road, and as impressed as I was with some developments of the highway, I was intensely appalled by the incorrigible act of defiance by residents of the community, to break down the highly barriers and cross the highway like wildebeest. Enough of then don't get killed...they can't be human, and amazingly even animals have a greater sense of impending danger on highways than some of these subhuman species. Enforce the law, even if you have to crack lots of useless skulls!!!

The problem is not one that demands that God should be summoned to come down to earth and solve for us as has been advised by some lazy non-thinking people. Neither is it because the people who live around the N1 highway are stupid.
If ... and a big IF is that, if God created us in his own image, we can therefore safely assume that He entrusted us with sufficient brains to understand and deal with our own man-made problems. But NO! We dont want to think and instead we call upon God to come and think for us on every little problem we have. That is why stupid backward people dont progress. We are a disgrace to God Himself. We behave like spoilt children who dont perform well at school and as a result, continue to depend on their parents for their everyday needs.
We have people who have been educated at great expense with the tax-payers money to become engineers of sorts and they proceed to build a high-speed, ground-level road like this one, right smack through a heavily populated community with only a few foot-bridges - some of them several kilometers apart, crossing the road to serve the many thousands of people who have to cross this massive road every day. What these ignorant and illiterate engineers and so-called Consultants want to say is that, if one wants to cross that road, he/she should walk for several kilometers before doing so. Incredible! Unbelievable! This defies common sense, logic and any kind of human intellect. I believe that Citizen Onee who is advocating that more people should be killed on that road until they get sense to cross that road properly is one such educated Ghanaian. He has no common sense and as he has very clearly shown by his contribution, he is not a civilized human being.
And some of these people come with all sorts of grandiose but obviously useless academic appendages to their names from Harvard, MIT, Cambridge, Oxford, Legon and what have you. I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that the educated African is the worse enemy of Africa. It seems that after acquiring education, the African is transformed into an utter moron of no other known species. No wonder others continue to use them to exploit us all.
The worse part of all this is that with shameless effrontery, they then proceed without any remorse or shame to actually name that road after the evil son of the evil man who played a major part in the overthrow of the first President of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah - the African of the millennium. What does one expect after naming a road after such demented people?
Again, one cannot fault the residents of the areas bordering that road for attempting to cross at various unauthorized points. Anybody would, from time to time, take that risk under the prevailing circumstances that have been created by stupid, inept and idiotic Consultants and engineers and on whose head the many deaths that have occured on that road rests, to cross that road where it is most convenient instead of walking for an hour or more to the next foot bridge crossing.
I fully support the residents for finally bringing attention to their plight by causing commotion on that road today. It is the only way that Ghanaians can bring the attention of their equally stupid non-performing and non-proactive govts to their very difficult and challenging problems.
May the soul of the little girl who was going to school today but was who was killed by the stupidity of bad planning by bad engineers, rest in peace in the arms of our good Lord. I comfort her parents and family and propose that the vulgar name of that road should be immediately changed from that of a person who has committed multiple crimes against humanity and suitably renamed after the innocent little girl whose life was inadvertently terminated by the curse that follows the man called George Bush.

THERE ARE CROSSING POINTS AND ALSO FOOT BRIDGES. EVEN IF THESE ARE NOT ENOUGH AND ARE NOT AT THE NEEDED POINTS WHICH NECESSITATES THE CROSSING AT POINTS NOT DESIGNATED AS SUCH THEN IT REQUIRES THE PERSONAL CARE OF THE PEDESTRIAN TO MAKE THE ATTEMPT TO CROSS ONLY WHEN IT IS SAFE TO DO SO. WE HAVE ALL BEEN TOLD HOW TO LOOK LEFT, RIGHT, THEN LEFT AGAIN TO CONFIRM THAT THE ROAD IS FREE AND THEN CROSS SMARTLY. IT IS AMAZING HOW SOME PEDESTRIANS CROSS THE ROADS. I HAVE ON MANY OCASSIONS SEEN PEOPLE CORSS BUSY ROADS AS IF THEY ARE JUST WALKING IN THEIR SEATING ROOMS OR IN THEIR GARDENS OR COMPOUND AT HOME. VERY RELAXED, NOT CARING, AND EVNE SOMETIMES WITH MOBILE PHONE TALKING AND JUST WALKING LEISURELY. IT TAKES TWO TO ACHIEVE SAFETY ON OF THE PEDESTRIAN ON THE ROADS - THE DRIVER AND THE PEDESTRIAN. THE DRIVER MUST BE AWARE AND TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE PEDESTRIAN THAT COULD CROSS BY MISTAKE AND SO MUST BE AT A SPEED THAT HE CAN STOP OR SLOW DOWN IN CASE OF ANY EVENTUALITY. THE GREATER RESPONSIBILITY LIES ON THE PEDESTRIAN SINCE IT IS HIS OR HER LIFE THAT IS AT STAKE. SUCH ACCIDENTS NO MATTER WHOSE NEGLECT OR FAULT IT IS DOES NOT WARRANT ANY MOB ACTION SUCH AS IS BEING REPORTED IN THIS CASE. IT IS NECESSARY FOR THE POLICE, THE CITY AUTHORITIES AND ROAD SAFETY OFFICIALS OF HIGHWAYS OR URBAN ROADS TO STUDY THE SITUATION ON SUCH BURY ROADS AND FIND SOLUTIONS FOR THE SAFETY OF PEDESTRIANS. EDUCATION OF THE PEDESTRIAN IS ALSO NECESSARY AND SHOULD BE INTENSIFIED. (Romanus extends condolences to the bereaved family of the accident victimn - MAY HE REST IN PEACE)

In Ghana most drivers just don't mind even the zebra crossing. In countries in the developed world drivers are more conscious of human life and when they drive through town they are very watchful and careful. Even where there are not zebra crossings in cities and towns they are always prepared for the unexpected crossing of humans or humans falling on the way in their attempt to cross. Hence accidents leading to death of pedestrians being overrun by vehicles are very minimal. In Africa in general people don't have FEELINGS for one another. One sometimes wonders why Africans are so much unlike the Europeans. I will find time to dilate on this issue. For the meantime let drivers watch out for pedestrians when they drive in town sn cities. Plan properly and minimize hurrying all the times.

Hmmm.... u can't be more right...pedestrian or zebra crossings are not respected by ghanaian motorists. I think the problem stems from insufficient, (if not a complete lack of )(public) education on the issue. Well, it's a well known fact that unfortunately most people learn to drive without enrolling in a driving sch.But I've observed that even in most driving schools, the theory of driving is taught without a single mention being made of the importance of the zebras. I say this on authority cos before i started driving,i enrolled in two different driving schools, but was taught nothing about zebras,(and neither were a lot of other friends i querird!)until my dad personally taught me that,as a motorist, the u must always slow down as u approach a zebra crossing and be ready to immediately apply your brakes the moment u spot even the toe of a a pedestrian on it.Until motorists have access to this education, imbibe it and cease expecting pedestrians to 'fly' across zebras, we have a long way to go!

Der-Gbaale do you know why Africans are so much unlike the Europeans? It is because Europeans brush their much worse crimes and shortcomings under the carpet whilst in Africa, we have clowns who call themselves Der-Gbaale who make it their business to belittle members of their kind and race at any given opportunity. I will not defend indiscipline on our roads or in our society but to relate this indiscipline to racial inferiority is unacceptable and shameful.
If you care to know, there are worse trafic accidents in Europe and America than in Africa. Recently there was even one in which there was a pile up (crash) involving hundreds of cars stretching over several kilometers. Can you beat this?
Dont bother about finding time to dilate on this issue as stated by yourself in your contribution. I have explained it all for you in brief. Dont give us any more crap to spoil our reading appetite.
Do you know of any African anywhere at any time in history who enslaved hundreds of millions of people as slaves? Do you know of any African anywhere at any time in history who caused two world wars that claimed at least 100 million casualties? Do you know of any African anywhere at any time in history who rounded up millions of human beings and incinerated them in gas chambers? Do you know of any African anywhere at any time in history who indulged in the unrivalled terrorism of colonialism on more than half of the countries of the world? Do you know of any African anywhere at any time in history who is using drones to kill hundreds of innocent people all over the world everyday on the mere suspicion of terrorism? I could go on and on but the bottom line is that you should wake your ass up and begin to think like a freed slave. You sound like one of those Africans who cannot bear the thought or the responsibility of being free from the domination of those who have heartlessly suppressed us for over 600 years.

We wrote on this forum how underground passes can save lives and also windows in the barrier must be closed to save life. We wrote the other day that no one use a window to enter his room and the provision of openings in the barrier is like removing iron barriers in windows so that people enter rooms through windows because they say that the door, which is the foot bridge or the zebra crossing is far from their homes. To save life we must all respect regulations, even the highway authorities should not bend the rules to satisfy some wayward people, if even they are in the majority.
