How were those students selected? Are they not the same NDC students selected by NDC officials? From which tribes were they mostly selected? Ewes and Northners. How many Akans were selected? Is it true that there is not a single Ashanti the Cuban group? Hmmm. This is food for thought for all the stupid Akans who follow this P/NDC party that hates and openly descriminates against their fellow Akans. They should remember in Rwanda Hutus known to be supporters of the Tutsi oppressors were not spared in the uprising.

Kojo Tawiah is on top of the issues; he is simply being economical with the truth. This has been a chronic problem and one wonders when it will become a thing of the past. It is a disgrace to the country to sponsor sons and daughters abroad for studies and delay the payment of monies due them. The hardship these students go through is incredible. Thanks to Al-Hajj for bringing the issue to limelight

the problem is that we are not being transparent enough. For example when the cuban government asked the npp government under kuffuor to send those who were initially trained first under the Ghana-Cuba programme for post graduate training in their various fields, the kuffuor administration partisanly decided to send fresh students to be trained from first degree to post graduate levels.saying those trained before the npp were ndc sympathisers as if when patients go to hospital, the cuban trained doctors treat them on partisan basis.the cuban government quickly responded by saying they don't have such funds to train them from first degree to post-graduate levels,. This for example has increased the bill for the scholarships. who is to be blamed?like a contributer stated, they should publish the names.that is the npp, in their minds democracy and governance is an extension of chieftaincy,in fact many of their scandals have been covered for them!

He is not in control of government resources he is not making governement decisions. Please write factual stuff or shut up and read from others who argue rationally. By the way does this Al-Haji paper have an Editor? The language and presentation is rubbish. Very unprofessional.

this minister will never tell the truth. I am a PhD student in the UK my program has been suspended for 2 month my government failed to pay my tuition fees how much more taking about my stipends. its a shame that our government is treating us like that. Every year this is what we go through. Last year I went through the same ordeal. The worse part is those secretaries at Get-fund will not even reply your mail or even avail themselves to talk to you. It is so frustrating.

It is very sad and indeed very disturbing when our own children are subjected to such inhuman treatment. What makes it worse is when people responsible for taking care of them such as the minister in question lie so blatantly. I have personally suffered the same fate in the past and so I know how it feels. It was only the grace of God that enabled me to complete my postgraduate studies. As a result, I have vowed that none of my children will ever go out to study on this kind of sponsorship. Our collesagues who studied on Commonwealth scholarship were paid promptly and even their spouses and children were also given allowances. As of last year GETfund was paying 700 pounds per month for students studying in London. Ghanaians who live or have lived in London before would appreciate what this means. Unfortunately, some of our people also assume that because it is a scholarship beneficiaries have no right to make their problems public. However, we all ought to know that the best resources any country could have is an adequately skilled human resources.
