  Anas, i can't agree with you any much more, in fact just as it is an offence to practice excisition on girls the same law should be madfe in such a way that any family which cannot account for any disabled child must be charged for murder.My problem however is that my University class mates from these parts of Ghana ,seem to be quiet and would not influence their elders and their societies of such backward practices.

The involvement of Ghana's Security Force leading to the arrest of those "northern predators" distinguishes ANAS as a formidable power to reckon . Ghanaians needs more "Anas" to fight cancer of corruption eating thru the health ministries, greedy politicians,pen robbers,fake pastors and juju men ,police service.
  The culture of silence is deadly as its companions constitutes fears,ignorance,and superstitions.

  This is true; without anti-natal care I am sure one of my siblings ( very, very premature) would have ended up disabled, if they had lived at all. Instead they are now a strong successful lawyer, built like an ox.

  This act is not news to us. The police admitted they have never had records of such a case yet thousands have happened. What is the implication? We as a nation do not monitor all our births and deaths else on daily bases families and communities will have to account for missing children.
  Look at the those arrested and their reward for involvement? peanuts clearly this act is not for money but just ignorance; so ignorance has to be addressed.
  
  If our people have to continue consulting soothsayers/pastor with such problems we rather have more work to do than to prosecute just this people.
  Our people will rather develop tactical ways of carrying out this act which is based on their believe.
  Go check FGM(female genital mutilation), is it over? It has reduced though; some communities do it to the female new born within weeks of birth. Guys lets condemn it but let look for serious solutions

Following the naration, Anas wanted them to act it out which they did. starting with soothsaying, family rituals and rites, contact of persons who would usually do that and how it is done. I was told Anas bougght the fowl to the soothsayer, had a baby toy etc. Anas has down played the role of the Catholic Church in this area. Anas must have known the Sirigu babies home and what the church has done in this regard. In this particular case, the regional police HQ was involved and the outcome you can guess after the facts. Is the FGM a northern practice and no where else? How about Trokosi? Child slavery in finishing communities and in cocoa farms? etc. Facts are sacred and I expect Anas to be factual with regard to the Natugnia case.Lastly, his sweeping statement is in bad taste.
