The police know full well that all the 207 buses on our roads have no back brakes yet they are doing nothing about it. The police are so corrupt and incompetent that they are not dealing with the core problems. Their attention is extorting monies from commercial drivers.
Now in Accra, all bus stops have been turned into taxi ranks thus forcing trotro and MMT buses to stop in the middle of the road. Sadly in the full glare of the police, ministers, directors, officers etc!!!! And is it not an irony that instead of the police dealing with serious traffic matters the MTTU boss has made the fight against okada his top priority! Is that not misplaced priority?
In reality okada is more a part of the solution to our traffic problem than they are a problem. All the police need do is to ensure that no motorcycle rider flouts the traffic rules, e.g. jumping the red light. The police therefore need to get their priority right because using the scarce police resources (men, vehicles and above all time) to round up okada operators while they abandon the core problems is a sign of incompetence!

It's very pathetic when people lose their lives or get seriously injured and some okro mouths want to associate the reckless driver's crime with brake failure. Every driver knows the behaviour of his vehicle and so he is bound to apply the necessary cautions at all times, yet their greed and stealing habits would not permit them to think properly. It's time such drivers are charged for crime instead of someone seating somewhere and giving the brake failure excuse. The idiots disconnect the rear brakes of the LT buses with the excuse that the vehicle consumes more fuel when the brake is in position. Are these the people whose murderous deeds we'll continue to excuse in our society? Is an act of murder that's all. No more brake failures folks!!!

You better learn to speak the truth:
We Ghanaians import vehicles that are being thrown away in other countries. But if you don't know what you talk about, just shut up. And when your Ghanaian mechanic tells you after fixing your brakes that the bolts and screws that have become surplus "are not necessary..", better begin to question your intelligence, instead of looking for an old witch to blame when you survive an accident.

As I drove past the place soon after this accident and I was surprised to see so many people still standing and discussing the incident right at the accident scene. This place is right at the bottom of a hill and its a kind of intersection. One would have expected the police, whose office is a few meters away uphill to have condoned the place off, keeping the place free from any human activity to enable them conduct their investigations without any hindrances. It was really a recipe for a nastier accident. The attitude of many Ghanaian to incidents like this one and the professionalism of the police in times like these sometimes leaves a bit more to be desired. Lord have mercy , indeed.

He said the Commission had advised Urban Roads Department to carry out safety measures to forestall the rampant accidents at the black spot.
THE NATIONAL DEPT OF DRIVERS N MOTOR VEHICLES SHOULD SEND OUT A MEMO TO EACH OF ITS HEAD OFFICES IN ALL THE 10 REGIONS
FROM THIS DAY ONWARDS. YOU WILL FOLLOW THESE STEPS BEFORE GETTING MOTORISTS ON THE ROADS
1.EACH PERSON MUST BE OF LEGAL AGE IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE
2. IN ORDER TO DRIVE, EACH DRIVER/MOTORIST MUST OBTAIN INSURANCE FOR THEIR CAR
3. EACH DRIVER/MORORIST MUST ALSO OBTAIN THE PROPER SAFETY CHECK/STICKER FOR THEIR CAR. SUCH SAFETY CHECKS CAN BE OBTAINED AT ANY MECHANIC SHOP
4. THE RESPECTIVE REGIONAL DRIVER N MOTOR VEHICLE OFFIES CAN ONLY CERTIFIED CARS IF THE DRIVER/MOTORISTS HAS SHOWN PROOF OF a) INSURANCE B) VALID DRIVERS LICENSE C) SAFETY CHECK INSPECTION.
IF THE VARIOUS STAKEHOLDERS CAN FOLLOW THRU ON SUCH ACTIONS. THERE WILL BE LESS DEATH /ACCIDENTS DUE TO STUPID REASONS LIKE THIS ONE. THIS ACCIDENT COULD AND SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. THE CAR SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN ON THE ROAD IN THE FIRST PLACE. IF OUR SO CALLED MPANINFUO HAD PUT THESE NECESSARY CHECKS AND BALANCES IN PLACE. THE CHANCES OF SUCH ACCIDENTS OCCURRING WOULD BE VERY VERY MINIMAL. WE MUST GROW UP
It is unfortunate. To the bereaved family, accept my condolences.I pray for speedy recovery for the injured people. I will urge drivers to be extra vigilant on the road. May God be with His children.
May their soul rest in perfect peace.
