Don't forget that, in the just ended elections, Mr. Bawumia's performance in the three northern regions is abysmal. He couldn't convince his own people to vote for the NPP party. There would be series of challenges facing Mr. Bawumia. (1) The NPP's die hard supporter's in the Asante/Akyem stronghold would be disgusted about their party's leadership choosing a northerner to lead the party. that is an undeniable fact. (2) Mr. Bawumia must work tirelessly to get all northerners on board to vote massively for the NPP. but, I doubt if he has the tenacity to rally all the people in the three northern regions to support his party. (3) Mr. Bawumia lacks national appeal. the man hasn't been in the political limelight for that long to attract the electorate's attention. (4) Overall, I think anyone from Ga/Adangbe can increase the NPP's electoral fortunes than Mr. Bawumia. If the NPP can win Ashanti Region, Eastern Region, Greater Accra Region and Western Region respectively which represents about 140 electoral constituency votes they can easily win the next election. #my-opinion

You seem to have some interesting historical facts, but your attempt to narrow the argument by comparing the NPP to the British National Party(BNP)is not fair. The NPP does not debar any Ghanaian from joining the party and vying for various positions in the party. It boils down to the game of numbers; so if Northerners believe that the have significant hand in the foundation of the party, then they should join in their numbers to achieve the balance. Running to join the NDC in droves has the risk of making Ghana a one-part state one day. We all know that it was the NDC that has literally killed the CPP, but the NPP would not allow the Danquah-Busia tradition to die, and all are invited to make our democarcy work.

Northerners and other minority ethnic groups like the Ewes and the Gas in NPP are told the Akans have permanently hijacked the leadership of the NPP and its predecessor parties''
I QUOTE THE ABOVE TO ANSWER HARUNA.
NOw look at the leadership or NDC, CPP and the Nkrumaist parties. Their leaderships have never gone to Ashanti/Akyem. They are always outside Ashanti/Akyem.
Are we to say NDC/CPP/PPP/GCPP are deliberately denying people of some geographic areas leaderships of the psrties?
I dare say NDC has become a party against the Ashantis and Akims if you look at the general elections since 1992. Is Haruna saying if it is against the others then it is tribalism and if it is against Ashantis/Akyems then it is not tribalism?
Haruna/William will never win the argument.
NDC has been marginalising Ashantis and Akyems and are you happy with that? What is good for the goose is good for the gander

Obeng!I have not come across a report or rumour of a deliberate attempt to marginalise a region by any party!Even the NPP challenge is one that is condoned by a cabal and that will change! So to my point, he provides intersting food for thought. Taken seriously, NPP can become stronger and Ghana and indeed Africa will be the winners!

I am not sure if this is the real JH Mensah who was Dr. Busia's Finance Minister or an impostor or just another Ghanaian with the same name. In any case, even the real JH Mensah will admit that Dr. Busia would not recognize his party today if he were alive. Dr. Busia appointed three cabinet ministers from the Upper West region in 1969. He recognized sincerely the political contributions of SD Dombo, BK Adama and Jatoe Kaleo made to the UP and the PP. Fast forward to 2004, and Kufour said he could not find any individual from the Upper West region qualified enough to be his cabinet member. Kufour also said he could not visit the Upper West because it takes an effort to go there. Kufour's tribalism and contempt for people is to blame for NPP disfavor in Ghana at this time. Kufour, even one vote can make a difference, right? Get rid of Kufour and others like him and the NPP may begin to redeem it tattered image. Otherwise, NPP is doomed forever and may never rule Ghana again. Ghanaians are more politically mature than some NPP folks realize. NPP, wake up from your cavemen mentality or languish in opposition forever. NPP is already self-inflicting to lose again in 2016.

About three floors later, the old woman has reached her destination and is about to get off the elevator. Before she leaves, she looks both beautiful women in the eye, then bends over and farts and says, "Broccoli - 49 cents a pound!"
The old woman will not vote for arrogant people or ladies who think they are better than other people.

The BNP and NPP comparison is not a fair one, for at least the BNP let *all* white people join their stupid party, the thought of just any black person -excluding Asanteman of course- joining the NPP must be too stressful for them. They are barely adjusting to the reality that people vote for Northerners. That one is now president is giving them a collective heart attack.
Jokes aside, they are having the same crisis that the Republicans in the US are having. They cannot face that they lost a winnable election because they fielded an uncharacteristic candidate and could not appeal on a multi-ethnic level which is very important. Also the 'all die be die' mentality worked against them by scaring off level-headed independents. For the sake of a lively democracy I hope they can pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

nOw look at the leadership or NDC, CPP and the Nkrumaist parties. Their leadership has never gone to Ashanti/Akyem. They are always outside ashanti/Akyem.
Are we to say NDC/CPP/PPP/GCPP are deliberately denying people of some geographic areas leaderships of the psrties?
I dare say NDC hs become a party against the Ashantis and Akims if you look at the genera;l elections since 1992. Is Haruna saying if it is adainst the others then it is tribalism and if it is against Ashantis/akyems then it is not tribalism?
Haruna will nevr win the argument

Do northerners think they have to be leaders of Parties b4 they have to vote for it? How dare they? Why do they suddenly think they are better than the majority when infact they should be grateful to the others for NOT being selfish like them. First, let me tell them that, eventhough northerners are in the minority, they have had Presidents and Vice- Pres. than any tribe in Ghana since we attained Independence. They are ungrateful and inward-looking if they now think Akans are fools. If we Akans think like them and vote for Akans only, do they think they will EVER get a SPEAKER of the HOUSE, even? There had NEVER been TRIBAL centiments in Ghana until resent when NDC came into the national forum and then Rawlings introduced this carnage, and all of a sudden, the EVES and NORTHERNERS, started to taste the corrupt and unqualified positions and eventhough, they do NOT do well in those positions that they arrogate to themselves, they think, they and they ONLY have to be there and squander every PESEWA to themselves. It should be noted that, it was the Military coups that reversed the development of Ghana and NOT the politicians and most of them are the same two tribesmen, NORTHERNERS AND EWES. Nkrumah started with free Education in the Affirmative which was continued in Busias and Limanns administrations. It is the military dictatorships, that never made any moneys available so the northerners, should vent their spleen on them and NOT on the civilian politicians. Again, Haruna, I do not think you are speaking for the DOMBOS AND BAWUMIAS who are more cleverer. There is a saying, "if you can't beat them, join them". You will be a loser if you PROVOKE AKANS and they get " PISSED OFF."A word to the wise is enough.

The NPP must actively promote minority leadership. The opposition has succeeded in defining it as an Akan party. The NPP could have done likewise by defining the NDC as an Ewe party.

it is also a blasphemy that "if God leads leads the NPP some tribe will not vote". common sense is that God is never to be used in that sense.

Having watched his abysmal performance, first in his extremely poor economic analysis in the Danquah Memorial lecture of 2012 and more recently, I am of the opinion that his choice as NPP running mate in election 2012 was unwise and uninspiring. If you want a Northerner as NPP leader, I am sure there are far better qualified people like Ambrose Dery who was deputy minority leader in the last parliament. he lost to an ambitious and aggressive candidate whose ground game took him through, but that may be a blessing in disguise allowing him more time to rebuild and rebrand the NPP from scratch for a broad based national appeal.
Bawumia is a disgrace to the intellect from the North. Please don't even mention it. He is NOT presidential (nor VP) material in my view.
