The writer seems to ignore that by the constitution of Ghana all what is required for a presidential candidate to be declared winner is for him to win more than 50 percent of the votes cast. There is no requirement that the candidate win in a certain minimum number of regions. If the NPP wants to choose Nana Addo as their flag bearer in 2016,that is their prerogative and NOT that of the writer. Ghana's constitution specifies a minimum age for a presidential candidate. There is no MAXIMUM age requirement. The writer's lack of objectivity is a disservice to his profession.

However, you should know that it is incorrect to state that John Mahama won in 8 of the 10 regions in the just ended presidential election. The constitution stipulates a winning madate of 50% plus 1 of the "total valid votes" cast. It is thus a collation of all the national votes that tipped John Mahama over the 50% plus 1 vote threshold. I have read and heard several other journalists and political commentators use this very flawed analogy as to why Akuffo-Addo could not won the election as has been contented in the NPP's petition. The fact of the matter is that it was a national election and not a regional one

There are problems with how the EC allocated the constituencies in Ghana i think. Constituency allocation is based on population and not the land mass of a country. "OK", she replied, "what color do you think they are?"

"Blue," he replied.

"How did you know that?" she asked?

"I saw the reflection in my shiney new boots", he said.
