In this fast changing world any political leader could quickly and easily lose his/her relevance as new ideas on governance and management of resources to meet the cardinal needs of the populace moults.
The best leaders can do, if they held ideas, values and principles they feel are worthy of perpetuating is to internalise those ideals in the next generation of leaders and then take the back seat. Not to physically entrench themselves as if every other person is unworthy to lead.
This is what most African leaders are falling to realise. Konadu has outlived her usefulness. She should just retire honourably with the modicum of respect left for the Rawlingses.
