Bravo for your enlightenment on this Popular Vote issue.

It is this kind of tribal thinking that makes you to concentrate on Ashanti and ER. May be they should change the constitution so the winner needs at least 4 regions plus a majority vote.

The argument you are putting up was not what we witnessed in the elections. Even in Ashanti Region, Mahama got not less than 28% of the votes while he got about 42% of the votes in Eastern Region. In addition Mahama performed very well in Volta, Upper East, Upper West and Northern regions with very good margins. He then swept all the key regions with very convincing lead.

Fellow Ghanaians, let us analyze the performance of these two main political parties in this country. NDC’s philosophy is “dzie wo fie asem”. In opposition they allowed the Kufuor regime to loot the Ghana government for eight good years. From cash (Kwadwo Mpiani), bungalow (Jake obetsebi-Lamptey), cooking pot (Sekyi-Hughes) etc….. In the case of NPP, they oppose everything good or bad, from, Chinese loan, judgment debts and even the inauguration of President Mahatma. This enabled the NDC to always be on their toes for whatever they do. From this observation, we all conclude that the NPP are better in opposition than NDC. Fellow Ghanaians, let us ensure that NPP remains in opposition for another thirty years.

I seem to recall that in the late 1990s the global community were excusing to give Ghana loans and Credit because of rampant corruption when frankly Rawlings had lost it and others, including Nana Konadu were accused of corruption. By the way, I wouldn't like to live in a world where a popular road linking to a major hospital is BLOCKED for the SOLE use of Nana Konadu under the guise of security. It happened at Ridge. Was that a good thing? By the way I am neither NPP nor NDC just in case you are wondering.

Morning toilet cleaner Adofo, we dont know what you are up to. If you think Nana Addict can win two regions and run this country, it will be tougher for him than for you traveling from Golders Green to clean toilets in Oxford Street. If you know politics, Nana Addict cannot enact any law with no majority in parliament. Nana is not born to lead this country, period.

Secondly, NPP has NO evidence that any of our electoral laws were broken by the EC so Mahama's Gazzeted presidency stands. Go sob somewher

You are absolutely right in your analysis of the electoral college v.50 +1% principle. In the electoral college, in fact a candidate can win the popular vote I.e. 50+1% and still lose the presidential poll but that is beside the point.
In the Ghanaian case, it is entirely possible that a candidate can win two or three big regions and carry the vote, depending on the margins involved and the share of the vote attained in the other regions. Do I see some belief on your part that this is what really happened in the 2012 polls? It is doubtful to me if even the petitioners are arguing along those lines unless I did not understand the petition, a copy of which is in my possession. And that did not come from Kwesi Pratt either.
Let's all heed your own advice and leave matters in the capable hands of the SC. After all, we are merely postulating or speculating and none of us has the real facts of the case. You realise the interest in your opinion pieces has dwindled? I chose to respond as a like minded intellectual. Thank you.

Rockson here is Explaining the procedure to elect a President in Ghana. This is drawn in the big law book by learned people in Ghana and it is called the Constitution.
Remember, that even if Mr Adofo were the sole writer of the constitution, it have been accepted as the law of Ghana. that which makes Ghana a Democratic Republic State. Thanks for this little but so in-depth!
