Ghana's Southern Fried Chicken is #1

The Southern Fried Chicken (SFC) restaurant in Ghana has been rated the best among the 81 branches worldwide.

Mr. Andrew Withers, Managing Director of the global Southern Fried Chicken, disclosed this to newsmen when he introduced new machines for the Premier Meat Factory (PMF) at Tema.

The PMF, which was commissioned last December, supplies meat products to the SFC Restaurants, embassies, hotels, restaurants, schools and organisations in the country.

Mr. Withers said after earning the franchise to operate about two years ago, SFC Ghana has peaked to the global chart with great admiration.

According to the United Kingdom based managing director, the reason for adjudging Ghana was based on the number of chicken served daily.

"SFC Ghana sells 6,000 chicken and 1,000 on special occasions everyday to its customers. Other criteria are decency at the restaurant, excellent service, special salubrious surrounding and a clean professional appearance incorporating the SFC logo," he stated.

Mr. Withers said that with the introduction of new special rice cooker which can prepare 20 bags of rice a day, the Burger machine can also produce 2000 burgers in an hour.

He commended Dr. Paul Fynn, Managing Director of SFC and PMF, for his foresight and excellent management savvy which has earned Ghana global recognition and honour.

Mr. Withers commended Ghanaians for their hospitality which, according to him, is a key to opening doors for investors and tourists.

He hinted that owing to Ghana's good performance, the SFC has intoduced a new milk shake and variety of pastries this year.

"I am also happy that all the rice used in our restaurant are local. We are also cautious with the food we serve. We use vegetables and cholestrol free oil to reduce fat intake," he said.

Mr. Withers urged Ghanaians to make the best use of local investment to cushion the economy by working hard.

Dr. Paul Fyrm thanked God for the honour done to SFC and Ghana.

He promised to raise the standard of the restaurant in Tema and Accra.

He appealed to the Government to identify genuine industrialists and give them support.

"My problem is the very high duty and taxation we pay on imported goods. Government must be supportive of our endeavours. Where therefore is the golden age of business being trumpeted all over the world? With the assistance of the Government, industrialists, investors and entrepreneurs can make Ghana an El Dorado (land of gold, milk, and honey)."
