Primeval Consult Responds To Allegations

The attention of the Management of Primeval Consult has been drawn to publications attributed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) titled “Jones Attuquayefio receives paltry $1,000 from organizers and subsequently “Attuquayefio's charity match fetched 27,000ghc”.

The Management of Primeval Consult wish to set the records straight by stating the following;

(a) It is true that Coach Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio indeed received $1,000 from the organizers after the match, but that was not the total money that went to the veteran coach as a result of the project. Coach Attuquayefio also received a donation of 5,000ghc from Torgbui Afede IV, Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak, who was invited by our organization to chair the function and perform the kick off for the match as well.
This brings to a total of 7,000ghc as monies received by the coach from organization of the charity project.

(b) It is also untrue that, an amount of 27,000ghc was realized from the organization of the match.
The Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio Testimonial Match yielded 36,900ghc and the breakdown is as follows;

INCOME FROM THE PROJECT

ITEM AMOUNT
Gate Proceeds (Gross) 13,200.00
Auctioning of tickets at Joy Fm 7,500.00
Asamoah Gyan Foundation 3,000USD (6,000ghc)
John Mensah 500.00
Torgbui Afede IV 5,000.00
Goil Ghana Limited 2,000.00
Fire Flames Comp Ltd 500.00
Subin MP 200.00
TOTAL 36,900.00

Furthermore, we wish to state that, the total cost of organization for the match was 26,400ghc, which included printing of electronic match tickets, officiating fee, purchase and branding of jerseys, allowances for ticket sellers, gate checkers, and publicity among others. Indeed we are ready to make the expenditure public for interrogation.

(c) It is also untrue that, the National Sports Authority (NSA) waived all charges on the use of the stadium. Indeed, we spent 2,700 for the purchase of fuel for stadium generator, allowances of external security officials as well as toiletries for all the washrooms at the stadium.

(d) We also wish to state that, the event was greatly funded by our organization and it is only wise that, we recoup any form of investment in the event before profit is declared. Though Sidalco Ghana Limited and SIC Insurance Company Limited were advertised as sponsors, they did not pay any money for the organization of the match. Initially we had positive signals from the two companies during negotiations hence our decision to tag them as sponsors but this did not work out.

In striking the expenditure from the total money realized, we arrived at 10, 500ghc out of which the veteran coach took 7,000ghc, hence the remaining 3,500ghc is still in the accounts of Primeval Consult which the coach has directed us to use in purchasing equipment for the Ear Nose and Throat Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

We therefore wish to confirm that, indeed the ENT is yet to receive any item from us, but that was due to the meager nature of the money left.

(e) Primeval Consult wish to state that, nothing in the form of profit came to us as an organization and we have incurred huge losses from the project. However, we are satisfied with the fact that, we were able to organize an event to honour one of the nation’s most successful coaches in our history.

(f) It is also a known fact that, the match was poorly patronized despite the massive and huge expenditure on publicity and this affected the main objective behind the organization of the event; that is to raise funds for the ailing coach and the ENT Unit.

(g) We wish to put on record that, we did not organize the event to dupe the ailing coach as being portrayed in the media.

(h) Our attention has also been drawn to attempts by the media to drag into the picture Pastor Azigiza Jr and William Dodzi Ezah, of the Ghana News Agency (GNA). Pastor Azigiza Jr only came to the stadium as a fan and was invited by the MC for the day to offer the opening prayer, whilst Dodzi Ezah was invited by our organization to assist in the Media Management of the event as well provide some organizational advice and never pocketed any money as being speculated. We therefore wish to clear them of any wrong doing. Infact Dodzi Ezah was not even paid for the services he provided.

(h)Our organization is however unhappy with the way and manner the issue was handled by the GNA Sports team, as they never contacted us for our side of the story. This we think was unfair.

(i) We wish to assure the public that, the remaining, 3,500 will be handed over to the ENT Unit upon the instructions of the veteran coach.

Thank you.

Larry Opare-Otoo
