NCCE organises training programme for 51 youth on 2012 elections

Fifty one youth leaders from identifiable youth groups in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District, have ended a day’s special training on the youth and multi-party democracy, entrepreneurship, and free and fair elections in 2012.

It was jointly organised by the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), National Youth Authority, the rural Enterprise services, the District Assembly with sponsorship from PLAN Ghana a non-governmental organisation.

Mr Charles Biney, Personnel of the District Assembly, who spoke on “the role of the youth in politics to enhance health and open communication, to sustain good governance,” charged the participants to be patriotic and self reliant, adding that honesty and integrity are imperative for the youth in their personal national development.

He said there was the need for dialogue and decision making that must be accepted by opinion, religious and traditional leaders and parliamentarians among others.

Mr Awudu Sam Dramani, District Director, NCCE appealed to the youth to master the contents of the 1992 Constitution to enable them to play a meaningful role in the nation’s democratic governance.

He said tolerance, honesty, and dialogue were essential to create a successful democracy, peace, and national development.

Mrs Doreen Enninson, District Planning Officer who deputised for the District Chief Executive, Mr Peter Light Koomson told the youth that the Assembly had put in place “District Development Plan 2012” to cater for their needs in the area of human resource, reproductive health care, National Health Insurance Scheme, Sports, among other interventions.

She advised the youth to develop the culture of productive hobby to ensure total commitment to duty and to support their career since the “devil finds job for the idle brains”.

Mr Benjamin Agyenim Boateng, Community Development Coordinator, PLAN Ghana said his outfit is mobilising the youth for the establishment of a economic ventures and advised the youth leaders to come together to become beneficiaries of the deal.
