But my issue here is the administrative processes. Let someone educate me on this. Does the Minister of Education (or the ministry) have to be issuing orders to the GES on every incident of indiscipline or violence or sexual abuse committed by teachers, non-teaching staff or students before the GES can act? Is the GES that powerless, useless and incompetent?
Politics aside, most GES Directors General (except Adu Twum's errand boy) and their deputies are experienced educationists, university professors, people who have risen through the ranks before qualifying to occupy that position and are far more competent than the politicians who head the ministry. So how come suddenly they (GES bosses) have become so incompetent that Haruna Iddrisu has to be micromanaging every case in Butumagyebu SHTS and YɛnKromuHa SHS? Or, is this odd arrangement intended to enhance Haruna's bound-to-fail presidential ambition? So, he must be seen to be doing something ie pretend to be working all the time, is that it?
Recently Haruna issued an order stopping teachers from asking students to perform any domestic duties for them. It is good and problematic. Some teachers really over-use some of the students. But should a teacher, for instance, carry a student who falls sick at 10.00 p.m on a Sunday to hospital in his "own personal private domestic" car? Should he used his "personal domestic" cash to pay for medicines and other stuff needed 'emergencily'? After protecting their party crook for all these months and enabled assault more girls, they now want to appear to be doing something.
