A plantain seller has revealed that she dropped out of a teacher training college in her third year to return to her trade, saying the business pays better than the classroom ever did for her.
Speaking in an interview with blogger Pallasco Media, the woman said she was already selling plantain before she entered college and paused the business in Level 100 to concentrate on her studies.
‘I was in a teacher training college. I dropped out in Level 300. I was already selling plantains when I started school and I stopped the business in Level 100 to focus on school,’ she said.
But college life, she said, did not work out.
‘When I went to school, it didn’t help, I was starving. So I dropped out to go back to the business,’ she explained.
She says the decision has paid off. According to her, the plantain business now earns her enough to feed herself and still save.
‘Business is good. You can get money to feed yourself and enough to save. At this rate I will be able to build my own two-bedroom house before my former colleagues graduate and sit at home unemployed,’ she said.
