The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, has presented a rental valuation report on the fixed assets of Damang Gold Mine Limited (DGML) to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.

The report, presented on Thursday, October 29, 2026, through the Minerals Commission, is expected to provide a basis for determining the annual rent payable under a proposed 20-year operating lease for the mine.

The assessment was commissioned by the Minerals Commission to establish the rental value of the mine's assets and determine its associated liabilities following the reversion of its mining lease to the Government of Ghana and the subsequent transition to DGML.

The valuation involved an extensive assessment of the mine's movable and immovable assets, including their physical condition, to determine appropriate rental charges and related liabilities.

The report was formally handed over by the Vice-Chancellor of UMaT, Professor Bernard Kumi Boateng, to the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Isaac Tandoh, in the presence of the Lands Minister.

The valuation is expected to inform the proposed lease arrangements and provide a basis for determining the financial obligations associated with the operation of Damang Gold Mine.
