You're either a historical revisionist, suffering from selective amnesia, a complete simpleton repeating rank political nonsense or just a plain, stereotypically rabid matemeho tribalist hack who hates Rawlings because he established the very opposite of what you so conveniently accuse him of.
Prior to Rawlings' regime, Ghana was in a hellish delirium worse than Haiti. The "Nana Addo syndrome" was in full swing and the ordinary man had absolutely no voice or dignity.
You have NO IDEA how far we have travelled. Please don't speak of what you do not know.

In Accra everyone wants to be a trader. So people go and 'set up shop', be it table top, unsmder foot bridge, bus stop etc. In some places, it is said that, if one takes a trip for about a week and returns, he will have difficulty entering his home because traders would have started tabletop trading in front of his gate! Why? Because the gate has not been opened for a few days. Ghanaians sometimes, are just lawless. Everyone wants to buy and sell. Pity.

I think we may be going about this whole thing the wrong way. This is what i think.
When policemen compromise standards or engage with illegal sellers, it undermines the rule of law and very disgraceful to the force. However, for both the sellers and the law enforcement officers, these informal economic interactions are often driven by basic financial survival.
The fix: Stricter internal affairs and better compensation for police must happen alongside economic relief, or enforcement will remain a game of cat-and-mouse.
Governments frequently launch "clean-up" campaigns to clear footbridges and sidewalks by force. Without a viable alternative, this always fails because people cannot simply stop earning a living.
The Solution: Alternate Space.
Building massive, designated municipal markets with proper foot traffic, sanitation, and affordable stall fees before clearing public pathways.
Mindset Change:• Public education campaigns to stop people from buying on footbridges are highly necessary but slow-moving. Customers buy there because it is convenient; vendors sell there because it is highly visible.
Behavioral change only sticks when the unauthorized choice becomes more difficult through consistent, fair policing and the authorized choice becomes more attractive (well-organized markets).
Prioritize Ahead of Eviction: Build the massive markets first, make them affordable, and ensure they have direct transport links (trotro stations integrated inside) so the foot traffic is guaranteed.
Industrialize the Economy: As long as informal retail is the only survival mechanism for millions of young Ghanaians, the streets will remain choked. Transitioning the economy toward local assembly and manufacturing plants is the only way to transform these street vendors into stable wage earners.

In Accra everyone wants to be a trader. So people go and 'set up shop', be it table top, unsmder foot bridge, bus stop etc. In some places, it is said that, if one takes a trip for about a week and returns, he will have dif ...
