Ghana's National U-15 boys team ended their FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival campaign in Azerbaijan on a high note, thrashing Colombia 4-0 in their final match to finish among the tournament's top eight teams.
The emphatic victory provided a fitting response to their earlier 7-1 defeat to Brazil in the Tier A Ranking Play-Offs, following a painful quarter-final exit against Paraguay.
Ghana had suffered heartbreak against Paraguay after surrendering a 2-2 draw before losing 7-6 on penalties, ending their hopes of progressing further in the competition.
However, the young Black Stars refused to let those setbacks define their campaign, producing an impressive performance against Colombia to secure a convincing four-goal victory.
Despite missing out on the semi-finals, Ghana recorded an impressive overall return, winning eight of their 10 matches, scoring 44 goals and establishing themselves among the eight best-performing teams at the FIFA Talent Development Scheme tournament.
Shamsudeen Sulemana and Abdul Aziz Issah were among the standout performers for Ghana, with both youngsters making significant contributions to the team's attacking strength.
Sulemana particularly caught the eye with four goals in Ghana's 5-2 victory over Mexico in the Round of 16, while Issah maintained impressive consistency, finding the net against Korea Republic, Mexico and Colombia.
Ghana's campaign began with a perfect group-stage record, winning all five matches before continuing their impressive run into the knockout stages.
They defeated Korea Republic 2-1 in the Round of 32 before producing a commanding 5-2 victory over Mexico to book their place in the quarter-finals.
Their journey eventually came to an end against Paraguay, but the subsequent defeat to Brazil did little to prevent the youngsters from finishing their campaign with a statement victory over Colombia.
