It is foolhardy to be setting up a national airline at this time with all the failures of national airlines and to think any one can think that the Canada route will be a prime or anchor route when there are more passengers on routes to UK and Germany, is a joke.

The managers and bosses will transform the national airline to family, friends and girl friends/side chicks transport system.
That aside, bad service and arrogance of the stewards/stewardesses will contribute to the airline running into losses.
Moreover it will be difficult to compete with Turkish Airline, Ethiopian Airline, KLM, British Airways etc
I'd rather Mahama used the money to complete the Accra-Kumasi Expressway, the Accra-Kumasi road and also the railway system.

It would be seriously advisable in any case to let Ethiopian Airways manage the new Ghana Airways. Air India's top executive is Ethiopian! Ethiopian Airways has the experience and longevity. It is already managing the national airlines of DR Congo, Malawi and Zambia. Plus a private airline in Togo. With regard to the West African market, an alliance with Burkina's national airline would be the most sensible, economic approach, as well as promoting Pan Africanism. In today's airline business, corporate alliances (mergers) are the way to go. KLM, for example, with it's significant fleet and experience, operates as a merger with Air France (with a much larger fleet and market share).
