Foolish talk. Levy us, build houses and share it among yourselves? Ensure that building materials are affordable, the citizens already know how to built themselves houses.

Very unfortunate to have policymakers who still hung such ideologically and politically ignorant socialist mindsets. What is the state of social housing in this corrupt country? Deplorable, corrupt infested bloated costs from inception. Here is a simple and practical solution to guide your decision. Give the private sector soft credit, tax incentives, encourage use of local materials, set targets for completed units if they want more loan facilities and you would witness the explosion in housing supply at affordable rates. Don’t f*cking tax people and waste their toil. Who owns these those houses from the so called levies? The over burdened tax payers or the free loaders?

Mr Minister, please, it is not about the fear of public backlash but the perception that the political class will steal the money and nothing will happen. Ghana contracted a loan of $200 million dollars for the construction of five thousand (5000) affordable homes at Saglame. What happened to the money. We could not even build 1500 homes and the money is finished. How many people are leaving in Saglame as we speak. ZERO. Please do not try this please .

How are governments upon governments using the 2.5% GET Fund and NHIS levies? Do we get 10000 news schools or old schools renovated each year. Talking about 200.000 houses a year while we cannot do 10000 basic schools a year. Are we going to levy more than 2.5% to get 200000 house a year? Yes we need housing but show us what we have done the past 2 or 3 decades with the GETF and NHIS levies.
