As far as we could remember, since the beginning of the 4th republic, all CJ's appointments had been by seniority, except Nana Akuffo Addo's appointment of CJ Torkonoo which jumped over the senior most Supreme Court Judge, Justice Bonnie, but Mahama corrected that, and I believe he will replace him with whoever is next in line at the Supreme court, regardless..

Kofi Bentsil may be right, all appointments by a president have loyalty considerations. What is a grave error on the programme is the analysis Evans Mensa did on the performance of the judges. First the period of 2020-2026 is not an ideal period. Who doesn't know in that period the CJ, Tokornoo, Akuffo and Anin-Yeboah were not empaneling justices perceived to be against the NPP. So, if Justice Kulendi did 75 cases but Baffoe-Bonne did three cases you cannot compare their outputs. Empaneling a judge is not the responsibility of the judge but the CJ. That whole analysis is flawed unless a factor is found for standardization eg per number of times of empaneling.
