Former Methodist Bishop of the Obuasi Diocese, Bishop Stephen R. Bosomtwe Ayensu, has stated that he would prioritise the construction of the National Cathedral over the proposed Accra-Kumasi Expressway, arguing that putting God first could help reduce road accidents.
According to him, the country must put God first in all its endeavours rather than prioritising other developmental projects.
Speaking in an interview on Neat FM on October 13, 2026, Bishop Bosomtwe Ayensu said that if he were given a scale of preference, he would choose the National Cathedral over the expressway.
He explained that God is the ultimate authority who oversees all happenings on earth.

He added that prioritising Him would make life easier and help address some of the challenges facing the country.
"On a scale of preference, my life is in the hands of God, so I will choose the National Cathedral over the expressway. We can build the expressway, but there will still be accidents. What do we gain from that? But if we put God in charge of such things, accidents will reduce.
"If I had to choose between the Bible and money, I would pick the Bible over money. Even though I am not saying money is not important, it is a matter of putting first things first," he said.
