The problem is not that it is a church programme. The facilities also host shows by Shatta Wale, Stone Buoy, etc. The issue is whether adequate measures (ie good pitch covers) are employed to protect the pitch. We complain about lack of regular maintenance and at the same complain about other ways of generating funds. We must rather push the authorities to ensure that the pitch is well protected during such activities.
But the report also seems to be making wild speculation that there are no plans to cover the pitch. The original Ghanasoccernet.com source makes no attempt whatsoever to verify that claim. That is, at best, low down dirty mediocre journalism and at work an evil sat*nic jandam journalism. But I thought we were told that the NSA, under Ampofo Ankrah, has acquired some top quality pitch covers, not so? Borlaweb, can you do some verification for us?

Is Ghana a theocracy or democracy? Why do all these so-called men of God treat the state like private property? Even when reasonable laws are passed, a pastor can stand in his church and berate the state. The next day the law is suspended and the President himself has to explain/apologize for the law. They caused the State to waste $90 million on a fraudulent nonexistent cathedral. They are repeatedly ruining the only decent football playing pitch we have. Lots of them are filthy rich at the expense of their congregations. Yet they can’t build themselves a cathedral or stadium for their programs. Ghana has become their whipping boy. When they need anything, go to the State. Why?

Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo aka NADAA was really a smart, pious, and strategic thinker! Ghana needs a cathedral in every region.
God could have fixed our stadiums (or is it stadia?), roads, farms, schools including a better Free SHS, hospitals, factories,,,,,,,
May both God and Allah bless you Blue Pen.

What is good about these churches or prayers in stadiums? How long have we been praying for miracles? Our parents spend their life praying but africa still the poorest in the world. God is not STUPID. He has given you everything you can have to make a living but you still asking him for help. If you have 100 cedis why can't you find a way to multiply it through some small business. Istead you go spend all day in front of a scammer called pastors putting all the 100 cedis in his jar to make him live a lavish life while you are struggling to eat single meal in a day. He promises you that your lavish life is waiting for you somewhere called HEAVEN. The white man who create this fake religion is closing his church buildings and transforming it into night clubs and business centers to create jobs and money while the lazy black man is multiplying the number of churches in every corners of the our streets.
Do we farm in stadiums, do we farm in churches?

@Labadi Beach. Only eedyorts like you will be proud of such ignorant and moronic submission. The Church may not be perfect. But if you have any idea about the number of Ghanaians whom the Church has helped save from lives of hard drugs, prostitution, almost hopeless alcoholism, armed robbery and other criminal and self-destructive activities, you would not be applauding such prejudiced, unintelligent and very shallow piece of garbage by @Ougrbako. I won't venture into issues such emotional, spiritual, psychological, suicidal tendencies, financial challenges etc that the Church has helped millions through.
Go to any Ghanaian town or village and find out the percentage of all basic schools that were put up by the Church. These days, government (over the decades) and private individuals are adding to the numbers but still the Church"s contribution is very significant. I won't even talk about secondary schools. Fuulish youth, misled by shallow minded, attention seekers, make very unintelligent, ignorant and shallow claims about the Church, forgetting that they attended Methodist, Anglican, Catholic and Presbyterian primary schools and JHS as well as secondary schools. And for some of them, without hospitals put up the Church in the nearby towns, neither they and their mothers would have survived the child bearing process in their dark villages. Today, they have mouths to spew out thrash, without looking back.
At independence, there was only one middle schoo, located at Yendi,l in the whole of Northern Ghana (according to Mr Pratt, the Gaza HarmAss supporter). This is is because the Church had a limited presence in Northern Gold Coast as opposed to the South. The colonial government built almost zilch in terms of schools and education. It was the Church/the Missions that built most of the schools in Southern and the Middle Belt of Ghana. And for the benefit of the eedyortic ignorant, the Church/Mission and the Colonial Government were very distinct and separate entities.
If anyone, in their shallowness and ignorance, do not see the importance of the Church because there are not many churches in China, etc, then go down and do some proper research/survey and talk to people about their personal experiences. Yes, there are abundance of charlatans and fake 'prophets' in the system, especially in the Ashanti Region, who are fleecing and misleading the vulnerable, but that does not make Church of no significance in society.
