Completely unnecessary. Just for show. It will not add any real value to the screening process. Additionally, it will seriously inconvenience travellers and lead to chaos. They are doing everything to divert attention away from the fact that there are big players right at the top of government neck deep in this drug menace.
Were passengers and their luggages not getting scanned before? So if you don't trust the agencies who were previously doing the scanning, why don't you fix that. why add another layer of scanning to inconvenience travellers?
The drugs are bypassing the scanning. THey know. It's an institutional problem. But they have no appetite to fix it. that is why they are doing this KroKrotheJohn for public sympathy.
