That is pretty standard in most banks these days because of the extraordinary levels of fraud, coercion and blackmail prevalent these days.
Your profession can also affect how you are received at your bank. Your skin colour can be an issue. I remember having trouble withdrawing the equivalent of about $6000 from my bank to travel home to Ghana about 3 decades ago. That was the pre-internet era. Fortunately a phone call to my place of work quickly clarified the matter although it left a bad taste in the mouth as they say. That encounter was clearly tinged with racist undertones. Fortunately I did not experience anything like that in the years following that particular episode. By the way a white friend I know run into similar difficulties when she tried to withdraw money to send to Africa to help fund a humanitarian project. The mention of "Africa" seemed to trigger alarm bells and she was rigourously interrogated by bank officials before being allowed to transfer the money a week later. That was about 2 decades ago.
In this day and age of well- publicised Scams and Fraudulent internet based activities originating out of African countries including Ghana, can anyone blame these people for taking such a tough line these days?
Having a highly placed or highly regarded profession and having a designated /personal banker can greatly mitigate these annoying issues.

This is normal practice at all the banks in America. I don't know about other countries but in America, withdrawing $10,000 and above, you will be asked some tough questions. I have worked as a bank teller for 8 years in New York for one of the biggest banks and I know that for fact. Also you need to give your bank a day ahead of any bigger withdraw so that they can make the money available to you. I really don't know why this person has to post this online. These questions are asked for security reasons and also stop fraud activities.

Eh Peter! What kind of jealousy is this. The man is withdrawing his own money and that hurts you so much that you had to post this about him. What the bank teller is doing is very common and an everyday normal banking procedure. Even when we send money home to our families at Walmart, Food Lion and other 'Money Services' here, you have to answer these basic federal 'Anti Money Laundering questions. It is normal which is what your corrupt Ghanaian officials should implement over there in Ghana. The man is withdrawing his hard earned money from his bank account yet you are sad abd upset. If this isn't jealousy because you don't have $20k sitting cool in your bank account, you are feeling disgruntled, disgraceful and horribly sad at yourself and taking your lowlife lifestyle on a hard working smart man. If this isn't jealousy then it is wizardry. If I were you, I will reach out to the young to ask him about what he does and how he does it and be humble enough to ask him to teach you so, you can also do well for yourself. Nonsense, be happy for the man and learn.

What this guy is doing, flaunting 20k on social media, is very unwise. The laws in the US are not necessarily fair, and the police can use loopholes in the law to seize any cash they find, on you or in your car in some states. The scary thing is, there is no threshold amount you can carry, that is exempt from seizure. All they need is to say there is probable cause it is going to be used for criminal activity. Even if you have a bank slip, proving it is yours, it doesn't prevent the seizure, and you won't get it back. Their argument is, not whether the money is yours, but that there is probable cause its going to be used for crime. That is why you should never consent to police searching you or your car. Many good, law abiding people including foreign tourists have lost bundles of money like this. Authorities can use loopholes in the law in the US, to rob you.

For example, if you are quietly walking, minding your own business in an area where there is prostitution and drug activity, and a police officer stops you and asks if he can search you, and you consent, if he finds even just $500 on you, he can seize it...free, just with the excuse that you are probably going to use it for some crime in the area. The law allows him to do this in some states, without any evidence. The US can be a very unfair place.

The line of questioning has become the norm at banks and financial institutions since Congress passed a law to protect Americans, especially the vulnerable, from scams and etc.
The same law prevents family members and others from engaging in online transactions in case an owner of an account is dead or incapacitated. Automated or scheduled wire transfer to foreign banks will not happen unless the account holder goes to the bank in person to make transfer.

Meanwhile, as far as the amount exceeds the daily limit, in addition to impossibility of withdrawing such huge amounts from ATMs, one will be subjected to security screening which comes in the form of questioning by bank officials.
Any attempt to withdraw more than 10k alone raises red flag, talk less of 20k which can only be gotten from the counter and not from the bank's ATM.
I must say that this Nigga stupidly tried to create content with the 20k withdrawal and he got away with it, safely. Next time he plans to withdrawal money, he can pre-announce it on social media before he goes for the money and let's see if he'd be able to get home safely with the money he'd withdrawn.
