What’s the purpose of Ghana Legal Council? Has the EOCO got the authority to disbar the MP even if he is found to be culpable of the said misconduct? The Ghana Legal Council should be the body that’s constitutionally mandated to investigate lawyers code of conduct and then make referrals for criminal prosecution if any lawyer is found culpable.
Let them set the precedent, we live to see. Ghanaians are watching, the NDC should take a cue from the Rawlings’ administration and how it quickly came crumbling. Henceforth no lawyer or MP would be shielded from EOCO or police custody — that’s exactly what the NDC is saying. Why didn’t they bring up the issue before the MP’s engagement with the Salomey Awiti and Ghana Jollof cases as their legal counsel? It’s funny how some appointees go about their business without taking into account the fact that political appointments are totally ephemeral. We live to see! I SHALL RETURN!

We all know that Parliament is an independent arm of government, the same applies to the executive and legislature, yet we have checks and balances. Parliament can impeach the President. Parliament vets and approve the appointment of judges and the executive can dismiss judges if a case of prima facie is established. When Presidents don't assent to bills passed by Parliament, then the bill cannot become law. Why hasn't Parliament written to law enforcement agencies in Holland to complain about the arrest and detainship of the MP for Asante Akyem North. Wasn't he also elected to represent the good people of Asante Akyem North?. Meanwhile, the MP had been detained over three months now. MPs are not a special breed of Ghanaians. We are all equal before the law. Baffour Awuah has been detained by EOCO, what can Parliament do about it? Is the Speaker going to order EOCO to release him?
