The Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Justice Srem Sai, has confirmed that the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, is wanted for arrest in connection with an ongoing investigation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

Justice Srem Sai said an Accra High Court has issued a warrant authorising EOCO to arrest the legislator, following his alleged failure to honour invitations from the investigative agency since February 2026.

According to the Deputy Attorney-General, the investigation concerns alleged unauthorised financial transactions involving SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited, with suspected offences including financial loss, dissipation of public funds and money laundering.

In a statement posted on Facebook on September 30, 2026, Justice Srem Sai said the arrest warrant followed Baffour Awuah’s alleged refusal to cooperate with EOCO’s criminal investigation.

I can confirm that the High Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Mr AGYEI BAFFOUR AWUAH (Hon. MP), who has, since February 2026, refused to honour an EOCO criminal investigative invitation.

“Mr AWUAH’s imminent arrest is part of an inquiry by EOCO into a complaint of unauthorized financial transactions at SIC LIFE SAVINGS & LOANS COMPANY LTD resulting in crimes of financial loss, dissipation of public funds, money laundering, among others," he stated.

The latest development represents a significant escalation in a dispute between the MP and EOCO that has been ongoing since February.

EOCO is investigating alleged financial irregularities at SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited.

The agency says it invited the MP on two occasions in February in his capacity as Senior Partner of the law firm Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, which had been engaged by SIC Life to assist in recovering funds owed to the company.

According to EOCO, its officers exhausted reasonable means of securing the legislator’s voluntary attendance, prompting the agency to seek a warrant from the court.
